People worry so much about updates, as if their phone will stop working altogether should their phone not receive updates. I promise you, when you tap on a app it will still open even 5 years from now. I've had my Note 10+ for a couple of years now and the only difference after the last major update was the look and feel of the UI, nothing that really improved the usability over the previous version. If you want this LG phone, get it, don't be discouraged by the negative update comments. Yes, I understand that certain apps end support for older versions of android but that's usually for extremely old versions of android.

It's an android device, root it and custom OS.
Can't. As mentioned, this has locked bootloader.

people complaining about updates as if they would keep this phone for more than 2 years. phones are disposable for most people and slickdealers especially who buy when they dont need to simply because its a deal

next phone deal in 1-2 years and it would replace this phone or whatever phone they are using.

at this point its not even worth it for many to try and put unofficial firmware. hardware keeps improving and rare to want to keep an old phone.

its like those people who still keep their plasmas today and go on new tv threads trying to claim their plasma black levels are better and why they keep it over the new 4K sets LOL

bet we have people clamouring about their IR blaster or some crap on their phone from 5 years ago and why they are sticking with it, trying to justify and peruade people to also join their misery in owning obsolete tech. thats fine and all but they are trying to push something very niche to the general public. I had one of those old phones with removable battery, ir blaster, etc etc. I wasnt about to stay with it simply for those sake yet suffer on regular use and tasks with an outdated version of android and slow processor that cant keep up with updated apps.

right now IMO only real feature that will be hard for many is lost of headphone jack. For apple fan boys they are used to apple taking things away or giving them less and upping the price so its part of their culture and are used to it. But for everyone else, not so much. Soon we will get there for that though.

Agreed... Current lg v35 owner

edit for context: currently on android 9. if you value os updates do not buy. however, hardware is solid and the screen is excellent given the price I paid. still happy
Good Luck, I hope you don't get crazy screen burn in like I got!

The only thing LG phones are good for is trade-in lol. I would not trust LG's promise of delivering three years of updates. They were barely updating the phones while they were in the business. Don't waste your money. For $100 I might bite, for almost $300 with taxes - NO THANK YOU!
$100?!! ! For a phone with these specs??? lol. Right, go buy yourself a 2018 Moto G6 for $100....

How well would these two models work on Mint Mobile?
Mint Mobile is a T-Mobile reseller. This particular model was built for AT&T.

Two bands are critical for Mint/T-Mobile - 66 and 71. These phones have 66 but not 71.

Better to get the version designed specifically for T-Mobile in my opinion

Critical? Hmm... I use an LG V30 that was originally for AT&T but unlocked for my Mint line and haven't noticed anything different.

AT&T versions have band 66 but not band 71. Where I live I find my phone mostly on 66.

A couple years back I bought a LG G8 that was a Sprint phone - had neither band 66 or 71. Had to return it as coverage with T-Mobile was terrible.

Band 71 is typically found in more remote areas - where historically T-Mobile didn't have good coverage.

I travel a lot outside of major metro areas so better coverage in less populated areas more is important. Figure it is better to have a phone with better overall coverage.

YMMV.

it is at&t version.. there would be no VoLTE. on non-at&t network ..
Still talking about GSM ? at&t shut down all its GSM towers in 2016...
the phone supports most GSM bands thought!

I'd recommend the unlocked TMobile version going for about the same price on eBay. Has more bands and gets updates on wifi or any sim.
