This mower is normally priced at $299.98 when I look it up on their site. Quite a few poor reviews on this mower and it's not a good deal if it's not reliable. The sale begins tomorrow (5/19) but the reviews prevent me from buying this mower.

Their claim of never needing to change the oil shows how long the mower will last. No one can make a gas powered mower that doesn't require periodic oil changes.

Seems like a good price if you need gas. It is far more expensive elsewhere.

I think you add oil if required

I will never own another FWD mower.

But then again, I live on the side of a mountain so for me it's a no-brainer. FWD does tend to be the "better" technology if your yard is 100% flat (that means no bumps either.) Otherwise, get a RWD or AWD (which is probably overkill for a mower but if the one you like has AWD, no reason - other than maybe needless complexity - to avoid it purely because it's AWD.)

I got this mower last summer at the Sam's club. It does work very very well. It's second year to use and no problem what so ever. Easy start and self propel ( rear wheel) cut well on little over an acre yard.

Spend a little more and get a battery mower. It is so much quieter, no fumes, and if you have other tools that take same battery, you have an extra battery now.
Want electric but need to be able to bag leaves and need the power of gas

I think at some point they start burning oil so they just tell you to keep adding oil. This probably ensures the purchase of a new one every 5 years. Toro has the same thing and I am skeptical. if you look at honda mowers they don't offer a no oil change engine.

Spend 40 more and get a toro with a decent warranty. Brand new 339 at my local acehardware.

After having sold lawn mowers and other lawn equipment for 5 years I would say this is a decent deal. I used to sell craftsman and Husqvarna and Honda and snap On lawn mowers which were name branded and known manufacturers. 15 years ago the steel deck was still made in the US and the lawn mowers were decent priced anywhere from 249 for a FWD with single speed and smaller rear wheels to 399 for a keystart Big rear wheels and either drives.

My personal opinion:

Rear wheel drives provide a good torque especially in hilly areas and they push the lawn mower versus FWD that pull them. Bigger wheels are of great help to leverage the extra effort in maneuvering the lawn mower. I have a RWD myself but I have a Toro one and it has been the best lawn mower ever owned.

All these machines are made in China these days.
