ANSWER: The MB8600 is a cable modem bridge that normally only connects to one device, such as a router, computer, HDTV, game station, or other device. We built the product with four Ethernet ports ONLY for two situations that don't apply to most customers, namely Port Bonding and Multiple Assigned IP addresses

Edit: Something got FUBARed with my RedCard. I had to go through the entire setup process for it again. After which it shows I've been a member for over a year. This deal is still showing unavailable for me though. Maybe it will show up later.
This isn't exactly inspiring confidence in Target as a reputable place to be doing financial transactions with.
Edit2: Just did the Staples deal instead. Less than $2 difference, and less hassle.
So are there 4 usable ports or practically only 1 which connects to a wireless router?

Now 150 on amazon.
It is a great modem and delivers a 1.2 gig speed connection on Xfinity. Multi ports in the back under the yellow tab for bridging multiple connections for higher combined speed.

If you are in the above category and not already doing so, do yourself a favor and rent the XB-7T from them. They even give you unlimited data as part of the rental in most areas now, but most importantly it is a DOCSIS 3.1 modem/router with Wifi 6, 1 2.5gb port and 3 1gig ports.
I got mine at release so the prices are cheaper now but a router with those capabilities was about 3-400 bucks then and still easily 200 now. And thats on top of the modem cost.
With all of that and a $20 2.5gb NIC from amazon I currently get between 1400 and 1500mbps consistently.
And if/when I spill a drink on the damn thing I just get another for free. And I can get the newest model to replace it when that comes out. (Granted it takes a lot of calling and they are pains in the ass, it beats paying 400 bucks every few years to get the same thing).
Everyone's situation is different but its hard to imagine anyone has a logical reason other than stubbornness to not just rent these days.
Bring on the hate, and call me a shill. Personally I feel like the free upgrade is my way of saying fark you to their bad customer service.
Edit: Do not get the XB-7A! It has a puma chipset and at least half of them end up with the stuttering issue. XB-7T Is the one you want!
The extra ports covered under the sticker is for future proof purpose. Motorola may enable those ports to allow faster internet connection to your ISP. It's not for connecting to your own devices.
other maybe useless facts:
i have gone trough a lot of surfboard modems cause that's all we could get, even the one's the cable company provided. but since i got the sb8600 when new, i haven't had any issues and it's been going 3 years strong.
For most people who are not particularly tech savvy and don't want to learn how to configure a network to support link aggregation, I would probably recommend a MB8611, which has a single 2.5G Ethernet port. Retail is $169.99 and you can pick it up for $20 off with the current Staples coupon, or trade in any crappy old router or modem for a 15% off coupon at BestBuy any day of the week. This will be more future-proof, because it can connect to any router with a 2.5 GigE port and theoretically offer a single client up to 2.5G speeds.
