We bought the model just before this but it looks identical. I haven't had any issues the past 1.5 yrs other than the door was a little crooked when they delivered it so make sure the doors are straight. I don't like having to switch between water and ice. Our previous dispenser had separate water and ice dispensers but this you have to hit the button to switch. Minor issue.

I'd go with the GE that's $1799 w/o the cash card.

I have last years model. Has 2 dispensers. Ice & water. No issues other than arriving scratched to hell from a demon cat. Had it replaced and works fine. I would not touch may models. Usually stick to Maytag or Whirlpool.

Just curious why GE over Whirlpool. My GE Profile has had gone through so many ice makers, easily cracked racks and drawers, drips from dispenser. For the drips, I have replaced the flap and the water inlet valve and neither could solve the problem. My son is in the market and looking for a refrigerator. Decisions?

Because I thought all US non-premium brand appliances were roughly equivalent and I didn't want to deal with a cash card as part of the discount. Plus it's supposedly a higher MSRP. FWIW my parents have the 4 drawer whirlpool from costco that was on sale earlier this year and it's been great so far, but you'd expect that.
If whirlpool is a better appliance brand then go for it! YDY. I prefer the American brands as we've had less than stellar experiences with our Samsung fridge and former LG washer/dryer.

<Found the answer - Costco only sells appliance online --- you'd have to already have a Costco Citi card to take advantage of the $200 store credit>

Can this be purchased in store? I'm looking to get the Citi card to take advantage of the $200 credit, but the temporary credit card you can get at a Costco store (prior to the physical card being mailed in 7-10 days) is only good for in store purchases. The cc will arrive after this deal expires.

Not sure if it's common knowledge but a lot of the GE appliances are made in china by Haier which is a majority owner of GE Appliances..

Is this the GE with chip in water filter?

Best buy reviews say if you're not using GE chipped filter the water/ice dispenser won't work 😳

for the costco model GE's website says:
"MADE IN AMERICA: 70 to 90% U.S. Content"

okay, that's lame. Looks like these do use the 'E' filters, but there's a way around it:

just FYI. looks like you hijack the RFID tag from the bypass filter thing and put it in the fridge to spoof not having a filter. /shrug

I had a really bad experience with my last whirlpool freezer. It would leak water on the floor because the drain line would clog up. Found it was a common problem and was able to fix it by taking out the panels and modifying it.

This is my problem right now hence I'm looking for a new fridge. Can you elaborate on this fix?
