These are great, I've had them for almost a year. You can't buy replacement pads for them anymore, but I would highly recommend the Dekoni Limited Edition Stellia Pads. They are pricey at $100, but they sound really good. Tonality and frequency response is much more normal, bass is better, isolation is better, but they do lose some of the soundstage from the original pads. Celestee pads apparently are also good replacements, but I don't think you can buy them separately from the headphones yet.
I have watched many of his reviews(and many reviews of many others), more in the background while I am doing other stuff, and IMHO he is enjoyable to listen to (entertaining and fun), and he sometimes points out feature based idiosyncrasies that most other reviews may not catch (both awesomeness and lame). IMHO, reviews of A/V gear in general when it comes to judging quality is all opinion anyway, measurements are just a piece, so watch/read the reviewer you enjoy, given until you have the "whatever" on your ears, with your gear, playing your music, you will only be able to get a general idea of how much you will like a thing. This is probably why there are thousands of brands and designs, different people want/need/like/can afford different things.

There was another reviewer I watched even more of that retired (Tyll from InnerFidelity), and his reviews were great, very scientific and thorough, very well done, and I learned that in some cases things he hated because they weren't "accurate" or whatever I enjoyed as being really fun... scientific reviews aren't everything... or even worth very much when it comes to how people enjoy art, again just IMHO. Best to just try whatever yourself if you can, or buy from a place that allows auditions/returns.

I bought the Elears on the very first time Adorama had a sale on Focal's $549 in 2017.. where at the time Focal discounts were rare, deep discounts even moreso. I still regret not picking up the Utopias for $2300(not like I had the $, but still... organ black markets exist, 4 years later you can't get them that cheap used). I have really enjoyed the Elears and think they were worth that $, even though they are I guess the crappiest of this Focal line(and mine do have the popping issues with certain low frequencies Frown, still on my list to do the warranty thing to get them fixed), so I am really excited to get these. Trying out Stellia and Utopia, and I would also probably jump on a slick deal for Clears or Elexes, or any of the others I guess Big Grin.

Thanks for the post OP, repped!
I wonder what's up with Zeos reviews and why people kept referencing to him? that dude clearly has no clue (or has his own ideas) about audiophile. His comment is completely random, and is baseless with no measurement. Plus his preferred music genre has nothing in common with most audiophiles but I'm not judging. LOL guys, if you want to watch real reviews, ignore him.

Nice pair of headphones. Good match with the Singxer sa-1 amp. Can we also have Focal Clear back on sale?

I have these, though I bought them a few months ago lightly used for like $450. Extremely good headphones and I have been enjoying them thoroughly. Paired with the Drop 789 Amp and SMSL SU 8 DAC. I think that these are a great value at $400. Excellent build quality, great sound, good passive noise isolation. For close back headphones they have pretty good soundstage and sound airy. My Aeon Flow Closed always sounded too tight and claustrophobic.

Oh okay! I didn't know that. That would be a great deal on the Clear... Still wish that I could afford their high end closed Utopia. Need a sale on that, haha.

Hard to go wrong at this price. After Xeos' review suggesting these were worth every penny of the $900 MSRP (they aren't), people flocked to scoop up used ones wherever they could find them... so they'd sell for $425 to $450 on AV Exchange and/or Head-Fi. So you probably wouldn't take a hit if you didn't like what you heard.

I've had 'em. Good value at $400. Good, clear, neutral sound. If you're a basshead, it won't be your jam. The cable is pretty stiff and unruly. Focals reportedly have a history of driver issues and since I like to drive them hard, they probably wouldn't hold up for me. They are otherwise pretty sturdy and comfortable headphones.

Hence why I mentioned it's clearly not worth $900 like he said it was.

And whether we think his reviews are spot on are not, there are enough people out there who follow his every word to the point where he can move markets with his reviews.

The clears are supposedly being discontinued as well and they are $990 at headphones.com.
