Volt is their hybrid, electric and internal combustion. Bolt is plug in EV only for power.
Bolt is not eligible for the $7500 Federal Tax Credit anymore due to GM hitting the 200,000 vehicle threshold. There are a couple of proposals floating around including $7,000 credit for manufacturers over the prior cap and up to $12,500 for US union produced EVs (which the Bolt would qualify for).

Basically the support falls on party lines, unless it can be worked into a reconciliation bill or they blow the filibuster it's not happening.

Edit: just for clarity, didn't want to get the politics argument going on this more just a realistic view of whether the credit will get added to make this a much better deal.
Stopped at my 'authorized' dealer for Costco.
2021 hatchback with a few amenities...
(Don't have a relative/friend that works for GM.. would have saved me $15-20/month)

Lease 30k, $1300 down (first month + all taxes and fees) with all incentives available inclui Costco)

$325/ month.

Uhh...no
Uh....no.

$26550 OTD for 2020 w/ tax title license in WA for LT with DC fast, safety stuff, and heated seats steering wheel like 24k without tax-title-license , had to haggle and said I would walk to dealer that didn't have heated seats or safety.

Why is everyone talking about buying these when you can lease them for practically nothing
No idea either, especially considering you can simply buyout a lease at the end. It's essentially guaranteeing a depreciation curve for the first three years, while paying practically 0% interest and freeing up the cash to be used elsewhere.

I expect that the actual depreciation will be steeper once the whole slew of new, advanced EVs hit the market over the next few years.

Can you please tell the lease duration? Without a duration, the lease amount is meaningless. Thanks.

If anyone wants to see the better dealers near them for EV Lease deals, check out the Leasehackr or EV Blogspot forums.

https://forum.leasehackr.com/ [leasehackr.com] Excellent resource for all vehicle leases. Search by make and region to find a dealer nearby who isn't evil.

http://ev-vin.blogspot.com/2016/0...d-evs.html Unfortunately this hasn't been updated in a while. Still useful for finding dealers who don't gouge you.

SoCal dealers aren't willing to honor the truecar offer I got for their dealerships. One just emailed me with the subject "No Way".

Unfortunately, it's the sellers market right now. Dealers are being arrogant as f and ghosting

I would generally agree with you, but the dealership I'm looking at (Culver City) has literally dozens of Bolts. You'd think they'd want to move old inventory, but what do I know?

I thought about lease and outright buy, I ended up going 2.5% Apr loan from credit union (only debt was mortgage and have no plans for any other loans). I like owning hard assets, especially in these $ printing press inflation times (many people selling for more than they paid in abs $ on used cars now) If and when full self drive is actually ready and completely hands/attention off then I concede I will prob take the plunge and be selling a car the mass mkt sees as old tech but as we get into the meaty part of the us gov incentivised ev conversion I bet the 2nd hand mkt is well supported (in WA used ev sales also have tax exemption) + even with tech advances I expect the raw matl (lithium) and chip shortages to be more of a factor in the supply demand curve with other countries going big on ev. I am a diy person and for me the primary value proposition was almost no maintenance compared to ice and I don't have to waste life at gas station or even care about frivolous trips to town to pick up a few things. No warming engine, drive is quiet and relaxing (I have 4 young screaming kids in the house) and commute mostly off expressway so self drive much further out. Others I have read posted their 2017 off lease bolt ev buy price was well higher than used mkt.

From what I can tell, the residual on the lease is 22k. I can buy it for 23k out the door. Why would I pay 5k to have the option to buy it for 22k later?

I don't really understand the ins and outs of leasing, and I'm probably missing something but buying looks to be a better option for me. Especially considering I'm planning on owning for 10years.

Can anyone comment on recent lease deals for a 2021? I realize 1 June was the ideal day, but unfortunately, I missed the boat. My current car is dying (a 2010 Saab...which is a GM car but somehow doesn't look like it will qualify for the GM rebate) so I'm getting increasingly desperate for a new vehicle. Thanks!

Will this catch on fire in my garage? Burn down my house and cause 235k worth of damage?
Be careful Smilie. Bought four GMs in the past. Two had engine problems.. Have almost 3K unused GM card savings/earnings. Last year bought a Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. Getting over 35 mpg so far.
