It's not really an incredible deal, but definitely a "fair" price for a laptop with these current specs. Right around the same price as the Dell G15, and Asus Dash that are out now for almost exact same specs. If you are a student, as mentioned above, and use Student Beans you can get 10% off this price. That would make it a pretty solid buy if you need a good gaming laptop for cheap.

If you're a student and get the studenbeans discount referenced below in the thread, you will get a discount code that gives 10% off the price and free shipping. That makes it a pretty good deal if you ask me.

Anyone who orders straight from Acer know how long their shipping usually takes (ground vs priority)?

Okay, so I bought this one since students could get 10% off and free ground shipping (rep told me it's 3-7 business day delivery) with a coupon code from:
https://www.studentbeans.com/us

Search for Acer once logged in. The coupon seems timed/auto generated like from the other dell thread.

Anywho, here's what I paid:
Subtotal $1,149.99
Discount (Student Beans Discount: 10% off + free ground shipping) -$115.00
Recycling Fee $5.00
US-CA-Rate 1 (7.75%)Tax $80.21
Shipping & Handling $0.00
Grand Total : $1,120.2

This model has been released in India last month, with 5800H + RTX 3060 + QHD 165 Hz option as well. I was in contact with one of the reviewers and the mentioned Acer India has already released a BIOS update which has moved the TGP of the RTX 3060 to 95W + 5W with Dynamic Boost and that has significantly improved the gaming performance. They will be soon publishing the review with the updated TGP.

Wow. Significantly higher priced than last year's midrange Nitros - suppose that's understandable with chip shortages. But with a pricing premium in place it's hard to forgive a data-only USB-C port.

Pretty big fail, at least for my specific must-haves.

I would wait for an eyesafe laptop from acer or get an alienware if you want a gaming laptop. You cant imagine how good eyesafe is until youve actually seen it. I just purchased an eyesafe monitor and its changed my life. Its literally the best invention in human history. Checkout the bluelightsummit.

I agree with you on this. In 2021, there isn't any excuse for not having DP alt mode support with the Type-C port and even the budget offerings from Competitors having that feature. May be they're trying to distinguish it from Predator Helios 300 series by some ways

I chatted with Acer support: This system actually comes with 1 stick of 16GB ram, and not 2 x 8GB. Though it does have an empty RAM slot for upgrading. This could be a deal breaker for some :/

This would be great with a 5800H and about $200 cheaper.

So guys, any advice here would be much appreciated. I purchased the EVOO Gaming Laptop: Ryzen 7 4800H, 15.6" 120Hz, 16GB RAM DDR 4, 512GB SSD, RTX 2060 from Walmart about 2 weeks ago. I can still return it if needed. I paid $1064.61 out the door (includes a 3-yr protection plan from Allstate)

I do not game but I do run multiple tasks at the same time like having excel documents up, multiple internet tabs, etc for work. I do intend to edit video content and do sometimes like to stream movies etc on my laptop. Is the better video card in the acer worth what I'll be using it for?

So would the EVOO be the better option with the Ryzen 7 or the Acer Nitro. I don't mind the light price bump even though my Evoo has a 3-yr protection plan included with that price. Thank you for your advice guys, i'm not tech savy.

Unless your spreadsheets are massive and your tabs are out of control, the only truly taxing thing you mention doing is (intended) video editing.

Much better display on the Nitro (brightness and color gamut) might offer some big leaps in that.
