I prefer 17" gaming laptops as I have an iPad for the really mobile situations. When I'm traveling I'd rather have a bigger screen as I'm going to be using it for hours in the evenings. And when I'm out traveling, I have my super-portable iPad for checking emails and web browsing.
It was a serious question. Size/weight doesn't affect portability for me, so the answer wasn't obvious. While you might consider carrying a 10lb laptop an issue, I may not see a problem with it.
17 inch is awkward for carrying for most, and we can always get a good monitor for gaming.

I don't think it's just the difference in screen sizes; 17" has WAY larger heatsink, which will help to disperse the heat from both CPU and GPU, hence the fan won't crank up as often as the 15" would. For PC replacement, 17" will make better sense.

Yes. You don't need to undervort the 17" to keep good temps
I prefer 17' if I want to stream videos while in bed but most people that would use a laptop for gaming would plug it into a monitor anyways so the size of the screen becomes irrelevant.
False information. I am sure the one you are talking about is M15 R5, not M15 R4.
I prefer 17" for added visibility when gaming. When gaming, I would never expect to run simply off battery. Ideally I'm trying to be plugged in to boost all power/performance options. My 17" msi fits easily into my daily driver backpack.
What is the top tier battery life on a gaming laptops nowadays?
The Asus ROG Strux G15 Advantage Edition with the 6800m boasts around 10 hours, and much quicker recharge time than other laptops.
I would be using this device for mobile business transactions and periodic gaming, is this a high performance machine that I could use personally and professionally?
How much is the difference between 144hz and 300hz panel? Also i am interested in the battery life of this device (since i will be using this for coding), so does having 144hz panel with optimus improve the battery life significantly? Can someone please share their experience in regards to battery life for this device.

Get the 144. I have the 300 and the battery life is horrible. It's not a higher res screen and unless you are competitive FPS not worth it.
Anyone actually get there's yet? I ended up canceling my order since it's been delayed past the Amex Dell promo. Would have saved me an additional $240
