There must be some serious inventory liquidation going on since these have been on sale most of the year via major retailers and the prices are getting lower and lower.

Bought this used from some guy on CL back 6yrs ago for $50 and still going strong. Best sounding speakers for PC use. I barely crank the volume since it can get pretty loud. Debating should I get this for backup purpose.. thoughts?

+1 for the outlet switch idea. For under ten bucks you can get ones you can turn on/off from your phone. We use them on Christmas lights, patio lights, noise machines, aquarium lighting…. You can add a remote on/off to almost anything, and it's superior to having to go hit the switch anyway

i have both the logitech z623 and this promedia 2.1. hands down these kick those logitech out the water. i have had my promedia over 1 decade now.

You dont even have to bring the old receipt. Just buy them and immediately go to CS and return without receipt. They will look through your order history and only be able to find your first purchase for the higher price. The new purchase won't populate until the next day.

My ancient 4.1 set (now 2.1 and a rebuilt amp after a lightning strike near the house) still going strong.

Ya, power switch... it turns on and off automatically but if 10w draw is a problem, get a surge pro with a switch on it.

I spent more than this to repair my amp after the surge damage 10 years ago. Seriously considering buying another set as a spare... but I have too much extra junk already in my spare closet.

Like others have mentioned, the sudden price drops make me wonder what is up. These things were $149-199 forever. Now this year they are on sale everywhere. New model coming out maybe? This design is 20+ years old so maybe it's time for a refresh with bluetooth? I don't know anything, just thinking out loud

Do these generate any heat. My jbl bluetooth stays cool to the touch even loud but I am sure this will sound better, but I am in 95 degree heat here with limited AC.
