yeah bnc1080p but some of us have cameras spread over and acre and aren't running cat 5 quite yet (and suppliment that with wifi cams). Either way looks like this one (and i presume all of these dvr chinese ones) require cloud registration (even though it's not cloud storage) for the remote viewing apps which all use p2p. So while you can use the p2p default which contacts their servers or use ddns, you can't vpn into a private network and view as the apps won't work and i don't think any of these have any sort of built in web server or expose indivual camera feed. I could be wrong on that i'm pretty vague on the topic but just what i seen with a few of these type cheap dvr setups, they have to be exposed to the internet someway either p2p or ddns. Long story short go tcpip...

But if anyone knows one that will or is better versed on the topic lmk as i'm looking for something bnc to poke along with until i can get the time to pull a boat load of cat5e everywhere...unfortunately atm i got bigger fish to fry.
