Ride a camel and see one of the seven world wonders, the pyramids!!!! It feels so surreal and I would like to mention, this flight is super cheap. A normal flight runs you $1000-1200 and only $800 only if you buy 5 months in advanced. Been there 3 times already. If you want you can get yourself a tour guide and they are extremely cheap. You can get a Airbnb full apartment all to yourself with multiple rooms for $30/night

May I add, Qatar Airways is one of the best Airlines now. Would love to go for this price but kids are in schools and the dates wouldn't work for us.

Cairo is pretty cool. You want to spend a week there if you can

Egypt as a whole can be fun but you'll wanna cram and learn their numbers on the plane. You'll save a lot. Also everyone is trying to overcharge you so be ready to negotiate

I can't stand that crap. Such a huge turnoff. This was a sore spot for me when I was in Beijing. They go out of their way to gouge tourists.

Hate to tell you this but this also happens in New York city and possibly every major city in the world. Gouging on tourist is an internationally practiced thing.

I'm well aware, but not everywhere is huge on the expected haggling. Some spots the prices are high for tourists and there's no haggling at all, which is worse. I've traveled a lot and this is pretty much why I try to stay off the beaten path whenever possible. Not every tourist spot looks to rip everyone off.

I just spent 2 weeks on a business trip there and I can tell you the police there is very serious about protecting foreigners (Americans in particular). We always had guards with us everywhere we went.
While price gouging is an issue, we felt very well protected there.
