I have this safe. To move it, take the door off, just open it halfway and slide it up the pins. Now, it's about 100lbs lighter. I moved this into my basement myself using a dolly.

Use a hula hoop to keep the balls contained. It can be like herding cats. Be careful on wood floors though because it can leave dents where they roll.

Or what works even better is a couple 18" sticks of 1 1/2" schedule 40 pipe to roll it around. On smooth floors like laminate or tile, a small rug under it will let it slide. But 340# is really not much at all.

Also, this is usually delivery to driveway or garage, but a little bit of a $ tip will get the delivery driver to give you a bit of a hand getting this closer to where you need it.

with safes generally the heavier the better, else its too easy for 2 guys and a hand truck to wheel it away and get it onto a truck.

Any recommendations on a shelf layout similar to this but in a smaller unit?

What is your intended storage purpose for the safe? ammo, jewelry, coins, and possessions? or guns?
I use mine for coins and bullion so I have all shelving.
I went to Home Depot and bought 3/4" pine and sanded smooth and cut to fit. You can carpet and/or seal the wood if you wish. If you still need a smaller unit, try tractor supply. They always have good deals as well. BUt not too sure on delivery. May need to pick it up yourself.

About a dozen or so golf balls will work wonders getting it into the desired location!

Can this be put on a handtruck? Or is the narrow platform on a handtruck too small for this beast.

I own guns but only use this for coins and bullion. Can be customized on inside.

Hand truck will work. The issue I had was getting it up stairs. Need some extra muscle and a lot of trust! Like other poster suggested may be worth throwing a big tip and asking them to move it for you. Worth the $50 tip in my opinion! Wish I would have asked. I think I blew a gasket or two.. doing it myself! Lol

Bought one this morning, 200$ off and i was able to get a $50 off $500 code from the costco chat so i got this for $250 less. Several other stores apply a min $150 shipping fee on items half the size of this safe. I'm excited and cant wait to see it in my home! I hope the lock lasts long and i can use it for years!
