Make sure you all actually look up what shows they have and if you're actually interested in them. Most of them are either very old, so you've most likely already seen them, or very bad. It's the same thing with Acorn. I run out of stuff to watch within the first month.

And if you are someone interested in British TV, check to see if your local library has Hoopla. It's a great way to watch some of the same content available on BritBox and Acorn for free.

Honestly, a good service at a good price if you enjoy BBC shows. There is a LOT of content. I feel like I've gotten my money's worth out of BritBox over the past year, and discovered some great gems that I'd never heard of before. (Father Brown and Death in Paradise being among my family favorites.)

That said, their Roku app is lackluster, and their AppleTV app is about the same. It's just missing a lot of the "quality of life" options you find with many streaming services these days, or features are just plain broken. (For example, the Resume feature is lousy. Either the show you've been watching doesn't appear on the Resume list the next time you sign in, or it resumes an older episode you've already watched.)

However, like I said above, TONS of content for a very reasonable price, especially if you like period dramas, police procedurals, or Doctor Who.
Finally, been waiting on a Britbox deal! Thank you!

I like the Brit murder mystery and cop shows but they have been cranking out so many that some are just awful. The good ones, however, are extremely good. Well, aside from the fact that many take place in small towns and villages that have a murder rate higher than Chicago. LOL.

word of caution. old series, comedy shows in particular,on britbox usually have a crappy digital transfer. at least first few seasons if its from the late 90s. anything from the 80s, including 'only fools and horses', sport an even shoddier digital transfer. but that goes for every content provider (scrubs on hulu, everybody loves raymond on cbs, frasier on amazon etc). were subbed to britbox but we rarely watch it. were not fans of the socalled brit mystery, just an occasional comedy show. btw, no 'you rang m'lord', but you will find 'the new statesman' and both 'yes, minister' and 'yes, prime minister'. also, iirc, 'bottom' (for those into crass and overthetop humor). 'keeping up appearances' and 'as time goes by' also available, as is 'thin blue line'. not sure if 'absolutely fabulous' is on britbox, or just plain vanilla prime. same goes for 'fawlty towers'. good deal, overall. repped.

edit: now i see its a standalone sub, not via prime. 'ab fab' available, 'black adder' and 'mr bean' also. dunno if standalone differs from what you get via prime channels.
