Charge the cooler by filling it with ice a couple days in advance. A hot cooler works against you just like a cold cooler works for you.
Everything going in it has to be cold. A case of room temp beer will consume about 10 lbs of ice chilling down. Fridge temp max. It's even better if you can toss some frozen food or water bottles in there. If I'm camping for a week, my food for days 5-7 goes in the ice chest frozen.
You need lots of ice. Like half the interior volume if you can do it. And fill the cooler up all the way. No airspace.
You can top off the inside with something like paper bags to keep the warm air from hitting the ice when you open it up. Put the immediate need stuff on top of the bags.
Speaking of opening he cooler, don't. Try to keep it closed as much as possible. This might be your beverage cooler while you keep food in a legit ice chest.
Keep the cooler in the shade. The sun is not going to help you. And lighter color coolers are better than dark ones.
Don't drain the cooler. 33 degreee water is better than warmer air.
As you can see, these tips are contrary to how most people want to use coolers. The "3 day" rating means this should be great for a party or maybe a weekend. Pull the cooler out of the garage Friday and fill it with drinks and ice from the store. Drain it and restock the ice Saturday morning and you're good for the party Saturday afternoon and still drinking cold stuff Sunday and Monday.
Yes, I know, it is 50 quart but I am trying to find how tall, wide, etc.
