Got these for about $140 or $150 about 18 months ago IIRC. The headband feels cheap and plasticy, but…

Comfortable and good balanced sound. Can't go wrong at this price point.
Thank you. Bought mine three weeks ago for $150 and I'm going to try to get the difference refunded.

Update: Drop refunded me the price difference with an email request.
I have both and I would say the X2 are better for gaming/movies as they have more bass, soundstage is great, and you can slap a v-moda boompro mic and you're good to go.

The 58X are better for music imo as they are more detailed and have amazing mids, so it's preference, really. I always switch out between the 2 headphones.

I did this mod but used a a cutout from a cheap dust mask filter inner liner (almost like a coffee filter) with double sided tape. Most amazing headphone now. Without the mod, the headphones are just "okay" imo. I never tried felt but i'm sure it's more or less very similar.
This mod works surprisingly well. It did not turn these headphones to HD600, but...

I'm 200% sure that there is no better sounding headphones for $129. You have to pay double at least if you try to find better headphones.

Yeah, for gaming, the DT880 is really good. It's soundstage isn't great but it's imaging, both L/R and F/B, is insanely good. If you are going to say best for both music and gaming under $500, give me a Hifiman Sundara, an AKG K712 Pro, or a Shure 1840 any day over the DT880 since each have a better balance of imaging and soundstage and just sound better in general. The DT880 is probably overall the best at $200, but there is just too much competition once you double that budget.

K7xx under $200. Need an amp though. Do these 58x really not need an amp? They say that for a lot of hp even the k7xx. But really I've only experienced that with ones that are meant and specced for mobile use

Are these the exact same in terms of comfort as the 600/650, worse? Or better? Closer to the 598s?

The 600/650s were redic for me. Not just the pressure on the sides but the band at the top. 599/598 not bad really at all

already have 598, are these better?

doesnt make sense to buy this when you already have a similar one i guess plus mine are broken in, bought them in 2014

They say after $200-300 there's diminishing returns but the truth is it starts at the 598 and the like. The jump from $50 jbl to entry hifi is the biggest. The next jumps are only better because you a/b tested, not really because they are. I.e. blind testing with no a/b would be really hard to distinguish for most

How does this compare with HD 599?
I own both. The major differences are

- Jubilees clamping pressure is much stronger. I find myself using them less because of this
- 599s are more open, and thus a wider soundstage
- 599s have more bass, but Jubilees are clearer
- 599s are easier to drive and get volume out of
- Jubilees have slightly fatiguing highs whereas the 599s dont

For movies and games, I would always choose the 599s. For music the Jubilees, but not for long listening sessions.

One annoyance with the Jubilees for me is the dual wiring. It constantly gets caught on my chin when I try to put them around my neck.

The 58x are marvelous and for $130 you really cannot beat them.

One under appreciated aspect is the low fatigue signature being great for Zoom and conference calls. Some voices/mics can be quite grating to my ears, especially in the morning. With the 58x that's not a problem. Then I can switch Peace over to the oratory1990 Harman EQ and really enjoy music and games.

This is not to say that music doesn't sound good without EQ, but the sub bass bump and lifted veil you get via EQ sounds even better as long as you have a good source.

100% necessary to bend the headband wider IMO, clamp is just too much out of the box. Luckily its quite easy to flex the metal to a more comfortable shape, just watch a Youtube on it first.

I don't like too much bass, but I do like brightness in my cans. These are honestly my favorite headphones. Comfortable and easy to drive, this is an amazing price for high quality headphones. I sold my 6XX and P37X headset and use the Jubilees with a modmic.you Also do not need an amp to drive these which is a major boon to people getting into headphones. They sound great with just my computer and when you do get a cheap amp like the Schiit Magni, you get amazing setup for unter $250.

I also accidentally ordered Dekoni leather earpads (meant for other headphones )for these and they actually increase the bass quite a bit. They now sound like what I describe as 6XX lite. Just the right amount of bass, while keeping the brightness.

The HE-X4 are also $130. The build quality won't be as good but the sound may be preferred for some people. I haven't heard the HE-X4 yet but they're supposed to be very close to the HE400 / 4XX which are excellent in this price bracket. You do have to worry about Hifiman QC though. The 58X feels cheap but they hold up very well.

Bought these about a year ago for full price. Don't game... But listen to music with them throughout the day. Absolutely love them and am considering a second pair for the price.

Everything that you mentioned "you moved on to" are great for audiophile hi-res music. You didn't carefully read what I wrote. Let me repeat:

Gaming and Audiophile. Not just audiophile. The DT880 has a surprisingly accurate and clear soundstage and imaging which is crucial for gaming. Now if you did your research on the 598, 6xx, 560 then you'll know that soundstage or imaging is complete garbage. LOL

How do you like that 3-blob soundstage so far? hahahha

Notice how no one agrees with your ridiculous blanket statement? how do you like your zero upvotes?

For anyone on the fence, these are a great pair of audiophile headphones even at regular price. The name is a little misleading but they are basically the entry level to the renown HD600 line and could be more than enough headphone for anyone looking for one that is open-backed

I have the 650/58XJ and used to have the original 580 and I would say the 58XJ fit is the same, the finish is cheaper

upvotes on slickdeals? LOL, not instagram or twitter?

Upvotes on slickdels? Are you being serious?

Let me ask you. Do you understand 3-blob problem with the 598/6xx/560? Do you even know what a 3-blob is?

I see a few people saying that the clamping pressure is a lot with these headphones. Are they comfortable still with glasses?
