Then why are looking at the budget series laptop from HP? This is even below pavilion series. Check their Envy lineup and you will find those 400 nits 100% sRGB options available.
How is that terrible. 1080p 250 nits with crappy sRGB were standard in every laptops until like 2 years ago. Did every laptop before 2019 suddenly became unusable? Every single laptop I had this until recently and I was able to use them without issue. Even in my car in broad daylight.
because of product segmentation. similarly to why you can't buy a corolla with a v8.
if you want a better screen, you're gonna have to move up the product line. the screen options here are appropriate to the price range that HP is trying to hit.

So annoying that the screen options are terrible...

No, but it would be nice to have an option for a better screen. Some of us need/want higher resolutions, better color... These processors are fast enough to handle them, why not give the people what they want

Every day I want to yell at my uncle for spending $800 on the 15" HP Envy x360 with these same specs. Spending 2x this amount just for the form factor is crazy to me.
I'd say maybe it's the significantly better screen options but since he connects it a 32" 1440p monitor at home, and 27" at his office, that is 100% not the case.
What I can say about the performance however, he absolutely loves it and can't belive how a big an upgrade it feels like over his 8th gen mobile i7 from a few short years ago

Look at the screens side by side and you won't want to go back...
I just don't get why there's no option to change

They have laptops with better screens, but this is a budget laptop. If you want better quality, it's going to cost you in the current market.

Valid point but I still feel like using a laptop while driving is probably unsafe

The people can have what they want ... if they pay for it. You want a top-end screen, buy a top-end laptop, not a $450 one.

The last one I had was more than 15 years, so I'm hoping things have improved... A lot...
