I bought this the last time from Walmart. I promptly returned it.

The problem is, with the Ball vacuum, it is impossible to vacuum under furniture without taking it apart and changing to a different attachment. Also, the vacuum is heavy and hard move around, especially up and down stairs. If you have lots of furniture (like sofas, loveseats, coffee tables, etc.) I wouldn't recommend this vacuum, as you can't run the vacuum head under anything (because the Ball blocks it). Also, if you have stairs, I also would not recommend this vacuum, unless you feel like a workout every time you vacuum the staircase.

I will say the return was easy with Walmart. You can return it to Walmart. Or, what I did, you log into the website, go to the order, press "return". Then it lets you print a pre-paid return label (at no cost to you). Then just put the vacuum back in the original box it came in, slap the label on the box, and drop it off at the nearest UPS store for free.

I believe this vacuum was designed by a bunch of Engineers in white coats in a lab, that have never actually vacuumed a home before. Great engineering design, but horrible in practical application or use.

I find that vacuums are one of the easiest things to fix. Especially one this popular. There are a ton of videos for changing each part. If you are slightly handy it's a no brainer.

Got this one last summer from Dyson's ebay store and don't regret it at all. Have a long haired Himalayan cat who even with daily brushings seems to constantly shed and this handles it no problem and somehow finds more hair and dust than anyone would believe is there. The bundle of attachment is great, especially the turbine tool and the one for getting under things. The cord is also very long but soft so easy to manage and wrap back up. The roller brush is also easy to disassemble without tools, and both filters are easy to remove for cleaning.

The reviews on Dyson's website for the Animal 2 suggest that it is now so powerful, relative to previous models, that it is impossible to vacuum rugs that are too plush because it grabs the rug like a fist and can't be moved. Neither the Animal v1 or the Animal 2 have height adjustments like a Kirby does, so you can't mechanically compensate for deeper-pile rugs. I sought out the Animal v1 because I have a deep-pile shag rug in one of our rooms. It is noticeably more difficult to push across that rug, but not so much that it is a poor experience. I can see how a more powerful motor on it would make it impossible to vacuum, though.

Despite this caveat, this model, the original Animal v1, is an INCREDIBLE vacuum. I had a Dyson DC14 before getting this model a week or two ago, which I had used to vacuum the house on the previous weekend. On first use in the living room alone, I filled the canister. It's astonishing how much more effective it is than our previous vacuum. It's also a pleasure to use: it has powered forward movement, and the ball joint makes navigation very simple. It used to take endless back-and-forth push/pull passes for our DC14 to suck up hay (we have guinea pigs), and this thing got it up in a single pass.

The only design issues I have with it are the standing lock mechanism, which disengages when diagonal downward pressure is applied, and is too easy to disengage when pushing the vacuum around on its wheels; and the hose/cable, which are still connected (as they were on the DC14) and thus require that the entire cable is unwound in order to use the hose. Otherwise, its the best purchase I've made in months.
Pull, don't push Smilie

Took a bit of getting used to (have three Dysons) and understand where you're coming from. But if you reverse the way in how you drag it (versus push it) room-to-room, you shouldn't have a problem.

I bought a refurb of this a few years ago. It works well, and I have no complaints.

Nope, no email, but I can see the order status shown as 'Preparing' in in Walmart Purchase History (bought yesterday).

Ah yep! This is what I started doing. It still happens when I push it in order to turn it, as in a three-point turn, but it's possible to work around. Still, a little annoying, but given the other strengths of the vacuum, it's not a deal-breaker.

I really want this, but the purple refurb Dyson I bought over ten years ago just won't die and still works great 🤷

Buy a shark on sale & get a better vac with a better warranty. Dyson continues to rate horribly in quality testing yet is horrendously expensive.

No. My vacuum came pretty dirty as well. It doesn't look refurbished, it looks used. Not sure if I'm going to keep it
