Mostly just mad at myself.
He told me it's illegal to return the wrong one? So I bought it and will return it during my next trip.
He made this way more difficult than it needed to be, lucky for him I love Costco still
Does the receipt has the serial number of the laptop? If not, maybe try to return the new one to another Costco?
Either way, they will take the laptop out of the box to check even if the box is sealed.

No, there is no serial on the receipt that I saw. It has the same number code on both receipts. I even pointed it out to the manager that he was just wasting all of our time.
Pretty sure the return will work. Next time I'll just go straight to buy and return and skip the multiple trips
ETA: Tested again, it's no longer working with the ThinkVision monitor via USB-C. In fact it's not recognizing ANY USB-C device I plug in, not even a flash drive. Back it goes to Costco. It's disappointing, as this is the second LG Gram I've purchased, and the first (a 13-inch with 8th-gen processor) died completely out of the blue (wouldn't even power on) within the return period.
