Welcome to Slickdeals.... (being sarcastic...I see you've been around for 10 years)

where good deals posted by members get rejected because they don't meet site requirements (like 1000 reviews for sellers) EXCEPT if a Slick deals staff members posts them. Same goes for deals being promoted to the front page with little to no feedback/ratings.

Best advice, pick and choose your deals based on your gut and doing a bit of research. I also tend to ignore folks posts praising a product if they have less than 50 posts, as they tend to be shill comments.

I think the main issue is lack of transparency. Thats at least why I bring this issue up often.

So many people go through here and I know I've been burnt at least a dozen times from fake comments on deals here, so what chance does a newbie have? I like to simply remind people not to blindly trust the comments and "good" deals here.

Back to lack of transparency. Staff and sellers often make comments just to make a sale. Fake testimonials are considered false or deceptive advertising and therefore against the law, so if staff or a seller makes a dozen accounts and they all praise the product, that's illegal. Using unfair or deceptive acts or practices in or affecting commerce is illegal.
This is just the law side…I'm not even gonna get into the ethics side, since this comments will likely get deleted like so many do.

I can tell you weren't around during the Fatwallet days. They proved you could help everyone and share the wealth while maintaining a successful business.

It's a cheap area rug and not only that it has been made to look faded and worn out.

It's worth $30~$40 bucks....

I'm hesitant to even ask ask - but why are you and so many others so upset about this now? It's been happening for literally years. (Setting aside the point that Slickdeals isn't someone's personal hobby, it's a business and this is how they make money.)

So this isn't a good deal? I'm a bit lost. I came close to buying a bit of a larger area rug from Costco, but it was close to $200. I figure while this one isn't as large, it's also not $200. Oh well, I guess this is why everyone is bagging on Slickdeals these days, if you jack with the process, it's only going to make everyone question the process.

Try Ross or Marshalls if they're in your area. I found a very nice rug for a $80. Much bigger than the one shown here.

Most of these kinds of products I've purchased from Amazon have been terrible. Bed sheets, rugs, pillows, etc have mostly disappointed. I refuse to buy that kind of stuff from them now. I usually go to an actual store to feel them before buying. Lowes and Home Depot usually have a good selection of rugs that are high quality. They usually have a few on sale. For sheets it is hard to beat Bed, Bath and Beyond if you have one locally.

I would like to keep getting more insights into how SD promotes non slick deals. Please don't stop bringing up this issue.

Got this last time it was on sale and can say the quality is hot garbage. The rug is warped and very thin. Good for a spare/ kids room IMO.
