where good deals posted by members get rejected because they don't meet site requirements (like 1000 reviews for sellers) EXCEPT if a Slick deals staff members posts them. Same goes for deals being promoted to the front page with little to no feedback/ratings.
Best advice, pick and choose your deals based on your gut and doing a bit of research. I also tend to ignore folks posts praising a product if they have less than 50 posts, as they tend to be shill comments.
So many people go through here and I know I've been burnt at least a dozen times from fake comments on deals here, so what chance does a newbie have? I like to simply remind people not to blindly trust the comments and "good" deals here.
Back to lack of transparency. Staff and sellers often make comments just to make a sale. Fake testimonials are considered false or deceptive advertising and therefore against the law, so if staff or a seller makes a dozen accounts and they all praise the product, that's illegal. Using unfair or deceptive acts or practices in or affecting commerce is illegal.
This is just the law side…I'm not even gonna get into the ethics side, since this comments will likely get deleted like so many do.
I can tell you weren't around during the Fatwallet days. They proved you could help everyone and share the wealth while maintaining a successful business.
