Anybody tried loading a kayak on one of these? I would assume it would do just fine.

Yeah it'll be fine. These aluminum racks are about all the same and tons of people haul kayaks on them. If it was available nearby I'd buy one to haul my Hobie on if necessary, with zero concerns.
