Cloth masks only moderately protect the wearer, they do significantly protect others however. For some people, looking out for their neighbors and having their neighbors look out for them may sound strange. For me, it makes sense because that's how I was raised.
I'm glad that the money grab on masks has subsided. They don't cost much to make and what fits one person great may not fit another person at all. It's nice to be able to afford a few and stick with the ones that fit best.
The price on these masks seems fair.

I keep seeing stores putting masks on clearance but then I hear about cities and stores reconsidering their mask policies.

Cloth masks do make a difference. Mainly for preventing larger droplets from spreading from your mouth from talking/coughing/sneezing etc to Others.
Masks in General are Not for Us, the wearer, it's for Others. Others wearing masks is for You. This has always been the case. This info has been there for anyone with a string bean for a brain.
The idea that masks are for yourself is hogwash. Valve masks protect you much better but don't protect others if you are infected. If we All only care about if We get infected, this current situation is the situation we end up in the us and other selfish parts of the world. Where we still have major areas of the us still dealing with heavy hospitalization and infection.
We combat this by wearing masks for each other.
Wearing masks brings down the potential spread of covid. It's like wearing a seatbelt but for others. Treat others as you would want to be treated. Wear a mask please when you are in areas and situations that would make sense.
And I'm sure there are still plenty that think the difference is so small. But this coronavirus spreads specially by air/droplets so I dunno. At this point all this info is public. Been public for almost 2 years. Don't kill your neighbors
I've been mask wearing while vaccinated 3 months ago because of variants, also been known information for a while that they would spread faster and easier. You only need to play one viral pandemic game to understand odds and probability and how viruses/coronaviruses infect populations
