No Micro center store near me.
snagged one. Seems like a solid deal for this processor and not worth spending the extra on a 5000 series. Thanks!

I am second guessing myself though if I should just pay the bit extra for the 5600G? It seems like it rates a speed rank of 53 vs 80th of this chip plus includes an APU. Single core performance seems better as well. AMD fans?
yeah, for gamers this is true, but , "The 3700x is for people who often do very CPU-heavy tasks that apply a 100% load to all cores, and want to save time while doing those tasks. For example: Video rendering with software-effects. Blender 3D rendering. Multiple virtual machines at the same time"

I bought one today for my X470 Asrock board. Last week, I bought a 6700XT and a 5600x. I wanted to replace my 1700X. I installed the 6700XT, but didn't get around to installing the 5600X. I was debating on whether to get the 3700X or 5600X. They were the same price last week. I'm going to return 5600X,even though it's the better of the two.

that depends on if your mobo even supports zen3. i believe most x370 won't, but i would make sure if i were you.

In for 1 3700x. Should be fun to get it working with Win7. Now for the x570 mobo.

Thanks OP. Just yesterday my son said he wanted to build a gaming pc…and wanted a Ryzen 7 for it. I wasn't planning to spend the amount for a 7 but at this price I jumped. Also when ordering on the micro center website, I could package with a motherboard and save more. So definitely a solid deal for us…can't wait to get the rest of the components and build the pc.

Tech Deals review site says no. A 2600 to 3700 would be good for the extra cores. However a lot of people don't like to make a straight upgrade from one generation to the next. Its better to jump one generation or at least get more cores. A lot of people still like and use the 2700x. It still has legs. Now a 5800 or 5900 would be interesting if you needed it but chances are your 2700x is still kicking it

Just did something similar. On a b350 board and can't upgrade to zen 4, so got myself a 3800xt a while back and selling my 1700x
which b350 board do you have? also thinking of doing something similar of swapping my 1600 over to the 3700x while keeping my b350m board.

I have a 2600, mostly use it for gaming. Seems like a great price on the 3700x, but wondering the 5600x would be of better value? Looking to upgrade something while the GPU market is a mess currently, thanks for the input!

Building a NAS/Home/Media server. I could pair this with the ASRock B550 motherboard I have, OR, use the Ryzen 5 2600X and ASRock X470 motherboard from current desktop for the NAS, and upgrade my desktop. Desktop is my daily driver, mostly used for mostly for productivity, very rarely any gaming.
