I'm either never going to get one again or will just get the cheapest one every summer and treating it as disposable.

i honestly don't remember how that performed, which is a bad thing because that means i don't remember the last time i used it. I have 5 water hoses around my garden, to date most are heavy duty bought from costco. those expandable ones either star leaking between the nozzle and the hose, or punctured easily if you have any plants with thorns. i suppose they are great for specific purchases, but the only amazon deal that i bought that i can recommend is ugly green Flexzilla hose.
- latest one started to sprinkle after about a month so I got a refund.
- one crapped out in spring because in winter I forgot to store it in a warmer place; lasted one full year
- another one crapped out after almost one year;
- I have one that we bought past summer and today is still alive, no high hopes though...
My Conclusion: they are not 'heavy-duty', you need to avoid storing/keeping them in high/low temperatures, do not leave water with pressure in them and you need to be lucky and receive a feasible item. In fall they go on sale more often...

They're also simple to fix *when* they leak. Costs about 50 cents and takes 5 mins to fix. I've had a few of these (different brand) that I've been using for 10 years now.
To fix: Essentially, you cut the bad part out and put back together with 2 hose clamps and a coupling. If the leak is near the end, just cut the end off and reattach.
1. Leaving any hose under pressure is bad idea. Pressure builds up with heat
2. I leave it in sun all the time
3. I use hose reel wish it but not needed.
4. Super light
5. Lot of volume - not restricted
