I have a nest cam wired. I just looked these up and they have a 2mp sensor compared to the old which was a 3mp sensor. The same with the door bell, the new one coming out has a 1.3MP sensor compared to the old doorbell which is a 3MP. What is google doing to these. I would have expected them to be an upgrade!!

Btw the 2 pack camera only has 1 cable+power plug. I assume the 3 pack only has a single cable?

The way google made them this time, is if it's on battery power only - it will only record events, not continuous 24/7. Most likely was done to extend the time it can last on battery. If you want 24/7 recording with nest aware, you need to buy the separate power cable they offer, to plug it in.

Set up camera yesterday, seems there is a 10 minute cool down for person notifications. Cannot find a way to configure (I've set to 30 second recordings)

While they could just pull them off. I can't imagine a thief would look at it and be able to tell that its removable. Which I imagine was Nest's thoughts. Plus if they are out of reach which most probably are this wouldnt be a problem also.

This probably explains my lack of content my camera is not picking up. Seems like fast moving vehicles which pass by my home frequently are never sending alerts to me. Even though i have every detection settings turned on, it seems the only way to trigger the camera to talk to you is if a person walks up close to it or a vehicle slowly moves near or stops in front of its field of view to trigger a notification. Kinda lame for such a high priced item.

This camera pack is literally 2 wood screws. It shouldn't take anyone who has held a cordless drill in their life more than a minute to mount it.

Doorbells are quite variable, wired/wireless. If wired, it depends on many home specifics to give a direct answer, but you could pay around $150 for a wired install by a pro.

FYI - Reviews are in and somewhat negative. This camera cannot be used with the nest app, only the home app, which is half baked. So this will force existing nest owners to use two apps since the Home app is not fully functional.

The main problem here is wiring. Will need to be removed and recharged every several months if not wire. Could be difficult if mobility challenged.

I would recommend wired only or solar in this case

Summary of testing for 2 days
-10 min cool down for person notifications. Not good
- PIR only wakes up around 10ft(at 6.5ft height). Sensitivity set to max. Camera often misses the person if they walk past at normal pace
ā€ if camera is awake (ie plugged in) can detect person at 40ft. Good but then the battery only option is useless over 10ft

Current tech reviews did not test cooldown plus PIR wakeup distance. Probably going to return. What has happened to google?
