I remember when Fein had a patent on this tool and your only choice was to pay them $400 for one! When I bought the Dremel version for $100 it seemed like an amazing discount. (Sorry that this content was not helpful for deal seekers.)

While both the Dremel Multi-Max MM45 and MM50 are compact, versatile, ergonomic and precise, and deliver a higher level of performance, MM50 offers distinct features. The Dremel Multi-Max MM50 has a powerful motor (5.0 amps), a more compact front end to reach tight areas, a unique angled body that is more comfortable and provides better ergonomics (especially for flush cutting), and a blade retention spring to hold the accessory in place during changes.
Great price. Great tool. I have the MM40 and got that on sale for $67 years ago.

I originally bought the an oscillating tool from harbor freight and then upgraded to the MM40 in 2017. The blades that came with the harbor freight one fit fine on the Dremel. Doubt they changed the design for the MM50. The MM40 was a huge step up in power, design and really everything. There is also a wheel on the back of the dremel that allows you to change the intensity of oscillation. I remember using an old-school, sliding lamp dimmer cord to do the same thing on the harbor freight version.
