Using a 3.5 3-contact wire I believe they can. I've used them wired with my PS5 and used them on my xbox but never needed the mic on my xbox.

I have owned these for over a year and love them.

Some quick thoughts:

Apples new lossless spatial audio (Dolby) sounds perfect.

Quick charge is a great feature.

I have them on for 3 to 5 hours a day while working and they are extremely comfortable.

Several years ago I couldn't decide between this of the QC35 II from Bose.
I ended up getting both when they were both on sale and I like both equally.

The Bose is a bit more comfortable and I like the option to switch between devices.
The Sony have slightly better sound quality and noise canceling. I rotate them

Anyone know how these compare to the ATH M50xBT's?

If you want to save a lot of money and are cheap like me (thanks to having three kids), get the monoprice headphones . I am no audiophile but they are incredibly comfortable and the audio is about as good as it gets for my ears. I was shocked.

Which monoprice ones? (I searched SD for monoprice)..
Another option are the Anker Q30 currently on sale @ amazon for $60:

I have these and the Sony WH-1000XM4. Now, while they are not nearly as good as the Sony 's, they are 1/3 the cost after all- their sound performance (especially once you set up a custom equalizer setting) and build quality are much better than what you would expect from a $60 set of cans.

For connecting multiple devices, Bose qc35 is better hands-down. With XM3, you need to pair again every time when you want to switch devices. (XM3 does not support a multi-device connection.) With Bose, you just slide the switch, and it toggles among multiple devices announcing by the devce's names. It's even better than XM4 in multi-device switching. In my ears, the Bose sounds better and more natural than the base-boosting XM3, but that's just me.
Bose does not sound better. Not even close. And Bose noise cancelation? Forgetaboutit...

Sound quality is very subjective. Each company has a different sound setting. One may like one over the other. For me, I didn't like Sony's artificially boosted base, but I understand some people like it and there's nothing wrong with it. For headphones at this price range, you buy for "comfort" not for the sound "quality", in my opinion.

ANC is a little bit hyped in my opinion. Sure, sony is a bit better, but you can tell it only if you compare side by side switching between them. Unless your place is really loud or you need complete silence for some reason, most decent ANC headphones will do the job. Bose is known for good ANC, it's never at the "Forgetaboutit" level, unless you are really biased.

I got them yesterday and tried for some time. Sound quality and anc are good but audio call quality is so horrible. After multiple attempts with calls, decided to return it. If anyone is looking for audio calls, look elsewhere.
