If you're wondering the difference between the XM3's and the XM4's, RTINGS wrote "The Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless have more features than the Sony WH-1000XM3 Wireless. The WH-1000XM4 support multi-device pairing, have a longer continuous battery life, and they offer some additional talk-through control options. However, the WH-1000XM3 are a somewhat better choice for neutral listening, as they have a more neutral, less bass-heavy default sound profile and a more consistent audio delivery. They also come with a Virtual Surround feature, which the WH-1000XM4 lacks." At this price though the XM4's are $100 more (on sale) and I can't justify that difference.

Some quick thoughts:
Apples new lossless spatial audio (Dolby) sounds perfect.
Quick charge is a great feature.
I have them on for 3 to 5 hours a day while working and they are extremely comfortable.
I ended up getting both when they were both on sale and I like both equally.
The Bose is a bit more comfortable and I like the option to switch between devices.
The Sony have slightly better sound quality and noise canceling. I rotate them

I have these and the Sony WH-1000XM4. Now, while they are not nearly as good as the Sony 's, they are 1/3 the cost after all- their sound performance (especially once you set up a custom equalizer setting) and build quality are much better than what you would expect from a $60 set of cans.
ANC is a little bit hyped in my opinion. Sure, sony is a bit better, but you can tell it only if you compare side by side switching between them. Unless your place is really loud or you need complete silence for some reason, most decent ANC headphones will do the job. Bose is known for good ANC, it's never at the "Forgetaboutit" level, unless you are really biased.
