The Mustang Micro was $99 at most places when it launched. Looks like the price went up!

While I have a MM and I like it, I would be hard-pressed to recommend it. For $40 you can get a Vox (or other brand) one-trick headphone amp. For $100 more you can get a Spark Amp.

If you really want to spend ~$100 and get something with multiple emulations you can play music off your phone through get any of the audio interfaces (multiple iRigs to choose from, Focusrite, TC-Helicon, Behringer, Line6 Sonic Port)

Also, you should be able to try FenderPlay for free to see if that style and format of learning is for you before buying a year's worth.

But, both for $120 isn't bad. I'd say the Mustang is really worth about $60, so you are getting a year's access to Fender Play for the cost of two private lessons.

Fender rose the prices of everything $25-50 last month. Amps, guitars, basses, you name it.

I absolutely love my Mustang Micro although I got mine for $99 when they came out. I also have few of the VOX amplugs. Where the MM shines is on the clean tones and stereo effects which are pretty amazing with headphones. I also like that I can hook to my phone via bluetooth and jam along to backing tracks on youtube or soundcloud. Also it's usb c rechargable unlike the amplugs. The point of these is to jam anywhere you want without bugging other people and that is what I use it for (on the couch, outside on the deck, etc) Nobody else wants to hear my bad playing Smilie
