Edit: I'm not dissing apple. Just giving my opinion, phones are a necessity, but for me to put a device capable of 24hr recording in my home, especially in my bedroom, it either better be an insanely valuable product or leave me no doubts on security and csam does, I'm unsure on security.
On the valuable part, it's just a little valuable. I live in an apple ecosystem household. I can't remember 1 time in the last few years I haven't had a device with a physical Siri button present, whether it be an Apple Watch or an iPhone. For ME, an HomePod would just eliminate me reaching over 4 inches and pressing the crown on my watch.
Edit: if you were solely looking for a way to AirPlay sound with quality for a reasonable price, check out those ikea Sonos speaker. https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/symf...-00357561/ no mic, can form stereo with 2, airplay 2 and they're legit Sonos speakers
If looking for a smart speaker I'd still get this over the others. With all that said, I still trust apple 95% not to screw me

"How to create a HomePod stereo pair
First of all, it's only possible to stereo pair a HomePod to another HomePod or a HomePod mini to another HomePod mini. You can't stereo pair a HomePod to a HomePod mini. You will also need to make sure the two HomePods you want to stereo pair are assigned to the same room.
If you have two HomePods or HomePod minis though, and they are assigned to the same room, follow the steps below:
Make sure your HomePods or HomePod minis are running iOS 11.4 or later.
Open the Home app on your iPhone or iPad.
Touch and hold a HomePod in the list.
Scroll down and tap on the Settings cog.
Tap 'Create Stereo Pair'.
Follow the onscreen instructions, such as selecting which will be left and right.
The new paired HomePods will show up in Apple Music, iTunes, AirPlay, and everywhere else on your Apple devices as a single pair, which will play the content you stream to it in stereo audio.
Before you ask, you can't pair three HomePods together, although you can have more than two HomePods (i.e. a pair and a single HomePod for example) in the same room controlled via the same zone in the Apple Home app."
Yes, I have two setup as stereo speakers with my Apple TV! Sounds great but only downside is that you have to pair them every time. It won't default to them. I feel like this could easily get fixed with a firmware update though. *fingers cross*

I'd wait for public release though since audioOS had a nasty overheating bug in a beta this cycle and it is impossible to revert the HomePods.
Not sure if they sell these in the warehouse (at this price), but if so then that would be the way to go unless you have a Plus membership for free shipping.
