This is a good game, but it's no joke. Don't expect some easy RPG.

"Was $7.99"

He was just saying that was the lowest the game has been.

Yeah but I'm pretty sure it was never actually available at that price though.... so what you may see for this in the history on a deal site like Deku Deals is misleading. Best Buy keeps lowering the the price on clearance games on their site even if the game sold out awhile ago. I know because I look frequently.

Yep, and it was before even being lowered to said price (as is the case with numerous other games listed as clearance on the site)

Agreed, but as long as you use your brain and think during battles, it's all good. Reminds me of Final Fantasy XII with all the strategizing. Also fantastic graphics. In my opinion, it looks as good if not better than MH Rise.

Highly underrated game x10, IMO. The level system is a bit weird though, so I'd recommend new players skim a leveling guide at least a little bit because you can find yourself very under-powered in the late game and not know why and it's not difficult to deal with the pitfalls if you can spot them.

High level, what are the pitfalls coming from someone with experience?

Different classes you choose provide different stats on every level up, so far so good right.

It's very easy to switch classes to try out different combat styles. This is good, but there are two primitive types of damage, melee(includes archery) and magic. If you do some kind of hybrid character where sometimes you level as a melee and sometimes as a magic user, you'll probably find your character is unable to damage anything in the late game because neither your magic nor melee stats are high enough to break through monster armor.

If you pick the same type of damage for the whole game this won't be an issue but there's a ton of nuance as well.

One nuance is that if you want to be the best "Magic Archer" in the game, you have to level as as sorcerer until late game, then switch to magic archer once your character is powerful enough because most magic archer attacks do Magic damage. This is because as sorcerer you gain something like 10 magic power per level, but only something like 2 per level as magic archer. Late game enemies have a metric ton of resists.

Another is that if you want to just beat on stuff with giant swords, you're far better off leveling as an assassin for awhile since they gain the best melee stats. It's a really weird system but the game is worth it, it has a strange atmosphere and style that i've never seen in any other game before.

Very jank. It didn't age well. Played on ps4 pro w/ ssd, I got Ps3 loading times. Also, story presentation is underwhelming. Like, was that it... Was that really the last boss.

The only merit is the challenge and combat is pretty good. Combat is not as good as monster hunter world, but you can tell they borrowed battle mechanics from each other.
