For example my account with ATT is flagged by CS reps because I'm grandfathered into a sweetheart deal. I get slammed with advertisements to switch and one CS rep even admitted my account was listed to receive special offers.
I pay $100 a month + $10 a line and get 25 gigs shared, hotspot and rollover. The rollover is so good I have never run out of data. The kicker is I have an TimeWarner discount of 30% that gets applied to the $100 service charge. All in I pay about 120 a month for 4 lines for my family.
If I "upgrade" for a new phone, even if I got a "free" $1000 new iPhone 13 pro my bill would jump to about $200 a month because the discount only gets applied to a single $50 dollar line and the plans themselves are just that much more expensive. Even worse, if I upgrade they will not honor the 30% TW discount as it changed. The agent refused to tell me one way or the other if the discount would be honored. I had to "switch to see if it gets applied"
All said an done, the savings on a new phone would evaporate after about a year of the new service and I'm now paying an extra 80 a month forever.
Be wary slick dealers. Don't let new phone sparkle blind you.

Does any one know if ATT would give more tradein value / port in 200 would come back as part of blackfriday deals ??
Whats the typical trend with ATT (ba****s) ... since I feel like they reduce the tradein values based on how many new users/upgrade / purchase buy the iphone 13....
as ppl buy they tend to reduce the offer limits...
Here is my experience if it helps. I'm a fiber customer and looking for purchasing three phones with trade-in and two BOYD lines.
Placed the order online twice (each takes about a hour, since their web is extremely slow). Right before submitting, it says I'm going to receive a link to verify my ID which I didn't receive for neither of the orders. And both order get cancelled right after I submitted them saying that they can't verify my ID.
In the cancellation email, they ask me to visit a branch or call if it is not right. So I called and chatted online in the hope that they can restore my orders. In both cases, the agents just simply tries to place another order for me without asking for permission. And when I asked if the online offer (200 for new phone and 250 for BYOD) will be honored when I realized it. Their answer are usually the same that the offer only valid for online order which I'm not qualify for since they are placing a new non-online offer for me.
