Dual band is a bad idea for mesh, UNLESS most of your devices are wired

FYI, I picked up the deco M9 plus tri band mesh from costco and it was useless. After several configurations, it still couldnt give me even half of my gigabit speed coming through xfinity

Planning on trying the deox ax3600

would you mind sharing why it's bad?

Dual band bad idea because: you will likely never be able to reach the full speed of the service you are paying for. On a gigabit plan, tri band is much better. If your plan has speeds of under 250mbps, dual band is fine, as you won't notice much difference anyway

The tp link m9 just didn't work out for me. I have 3 satellite routers placed in different parts of a 2 story house. I've tested the connection speed in almost every spot of the house, starting from right next to the main router, all the way to the garage and outside the house. Could never touch even 500mbps even when I am close to the main router.
I've bridged the xfinity router, un bridged it, removed interferences. Nothing works

I will say, though, the tp link app is amazing.

What is the advantage of the 3rd band if I setup to use Ethernet backhaul in a mess system, assuming it's 1GbE speed?

Any idea if this unit can setup DMZ? My Deco M9 plus cannot and I need to find an alternative.

Any idea how this compare? Deco m9 plus vs mk63 ax 1800? Price is similar at costco

I got this and am happy with it:

https://www.costco.com/tp-link-de...75280.html

It's tri-band and two of three blankets my house, garage, front, and backyards with fast wifi.
Does this have separate 2.4 channel?

I've been working with routers for my families (parents, in-laws, brothers, cousins, etc) for years. If you are looking for the best performance/signal coverage. Leverage Ethernet backhaul. Run an Ethernet cable between the main router and node and your good to go. Wireless mesh is just so hit or miss even with tri-band. Think about it, if you are already having problems of WiFi reaching a location, what makes you think that sending wireless to another node will do you any better… plus it often cuts the bandwidth down in the process. So you will never get those initial speeds from the main router. Installed these and ran an Ethernet cable through the attic at the two major areas of the house. Using att fiber and getting 600mbs+ throughout the whole house via WiFi.

M9 is tri-band and probably has far more stable firmware updates. Between those two I'd choose it every time.
