I have a few of these and holding a comforter as shown in the pics is about all they can handle. Do not attempt to put any reasonable amount of weight in or on top of them! Several of mine have cracked and/or had the handles break off. I have other Sterilite without those issues but the clear ones just are not sturdy, even for clothes.

As noted clear Sterlite is a relatively delicate plastic and is suitable mainly for light duty storage. It will not withstand significant weight, impacts or rough handling without breaking. It is also quite susceptible to UV damage and will turn brittle over time if exposed to Sunlight.

I dislike using excessive plastic but these are essential for basement storage when there is a potential for mice.

Agreed... I can't see that happening either. Also it is too slippery for mice to scale.

Yeah these would work fine for mice prevention. Now rats I don't know much about and don't have that problem thankfully.
