It looks fun, but only about $10 fun. I'll probably pick it up then.
Yeah. Overall generally favorable reviews and hopefully the critical ones the devs can address with updates. I'm going to give it a shot.

this game is fun and tracks are very well created and the A.I. is really challenging. I found reducing the difficulty only slowed the speed of the cars down including yours. The only real problem I found having playing campaign mode was they gate locked certain areas until you figured out the secrets to unlock the gate. This was simple to solve if you checked the internet ... the problem however is it required using certain cars that by random luck were unlocked by using points on blind box opening.

This is where the real problem with Hot Wheels unleased became unbearable. The DEVS opted not to monetize their game with real money purchase of LOOT CRATES. Instead they have you GRIND and GRIND and GRIND events over and over and over to earn in game money. This money is used to purchase the Blind boxes and hope you get a car needed to unlock the games gated sections.

My experience was Blind Box opening was more than not a chance to get duplicates. As duplicates are more common than getting something you didn't already own. This creates a horrible back and forth grind to get more money to open more boxes only to get the car you already have.

I think the Dev team needs to review how Blind Box offers something you don't have already before dumping 15 of the same car into your inventory. 1 blind box cost 500 gold coins this takes 10 races to complete to earn enough. 10 races could be over an hour in game time. A serious oversight by the devs to allow this and expect players to stay engaged when 2 weeks goes by and your still stuck waiting on a car you don't own to drop randomly.

Thinking about getting this for my 9yo and 5yo. They love Horizon Chase Turbo for easy to entry and high replay value, but not so much for Team Sonic Racing due to the learning curve and too much going on in one screen (for the 5yo). Which one is this Hot Wheels game more like?
