Platinum is supposed to be a premium credit card - has one of the highest annual fees of any CC, and they add a Walmart benefit? I think Amex is confused and really diluting the brand and product

The new Soulcycle benefit that was also added is completely worthless
They diluted their AMEX Deals too. It used to be only a few but they were all very decent. Now its full of junk from tiny retailers that i've never heard of and takes forever to filter through the garbage.

I admit, i will probably use this Walmart deal but i dont thiink the typical AMEX Plat card holder would ever step foot insiide a walmart.

I hope AMEX dont continue going down the shitter.
Wow, talk about out of touch! I know a handful or Platinum card holders (myself included), and none of them would have any qualms with shopping at Walmart.

I think the point is that you don't ever step foot inside a Walmart, but still access their deals. I agree, I'm not a big Walmart shopper, and wouldn't shop it at all, then I moved from the SF Bay Area to Tennessee, so that changed. I still use prime, but use Walmart+ too. Grocery delivery isn't bad for essentials. Beats Whole Paycheck.

I never step foot in Walmart, but I am ok with them delivery to me, especially same day. Amazon used to offer same day delivery.

There's a lot more effort involved in shopping for a list of groceries than delivering a package for Amazon.
Someone does have to pick the order in-store--but from what I have seen that's not the staff running deliveries, and I would be surprised if the drivers are tipping out the order-picking staff.

We tried the free trial, it was ok. The driver was sketchier than the Amazon Flex people that we've seen, but whatever--he did his job. The thing that shut it down for me was tipping. I didn't encounter a tip prompt on the first deliver-from-store order, didn't even occur to me for this particular service. The second deliver-from-store attempt asked me to provide a tip amount while checking out. I'm sorry, pay your people an appropriate wage--I'm not tipping for a subscription service. Neither am I screwing the driver over if they're going to expect tips--so I'll just avoid your service altogether.

Never had contact with the driver for them to ask for a tip. Interesting

I have it and I shop at Walmart as well. I think comments like this are very insulting to people and the spirit of Slickdeals

Outside of slickdeals, how many Amex Platinum Members are big Walmart Shoppers? I just dont understand what Amex is doing with the Plat card lately.
You'd be surprised...

People with money that earned it and not inherited tend to be frugal

Walmart is perfectly fine when you shop off peak hours to avoid crowds

Frugality by saving money on everyday items is probably on the bottom of the list, if at all, of how to build wealth.

Saving on the big ticket items (house, cars), low interest rate borrowing, smart investing, and avoiding waste is what it's really about.

Personally, I've been a Platinum member from when the card was invitation only. This Walmart deal is going unused for me, for a couple of reasons.

Walmart offers nothing unique. Secondly, I'd rather not support a business that doesn't treat its workers right. I don't mind paying a little bit more to a one that does.

There was a time when Amex used to screen customers as higher risk if they shopped more at Walmart, now they are offering Walmart+ as a perk!! how times change.
