Good for you, not everyone has that knowledge or resources to set something up like that. My comment was towards @cruxion's disbelief and correlation that somehow having seniority or duration of a product should entail knowledge of platform inner workers. To put it it plain and bluntly, that anyone who makes an assumption based on someone's knowledge unless it's in relation to their job or career path. It's completely asinine to make that kind of assessment towards a consumer, no matter how long they have used the platform.
Well that was extra.

My pihole blocks all affiliates. Takes a few seconds to parse it and remove the headers
You might also be losing out on ca$hback opportunities by doing that, or do you have a way around for that? That can't be very smart if so..

$35 for a single refurbished light bulb? That's a tough sell when for about the same price, you can get two or three Seng LED color bulbs with the same connectivity options. And who wants a used light bulb?

Here's a deal for you. A refurb Hue color bulb + hub would be $70 on Woot. For just $25, you could get a brand new Echo Dot - which functions as a Zigbee hub just like the Hue's, but has more functionality - and a color bulb to go with it.

You do understand what a "hub" is…yeah?

The whole point of keeping a separate proprietary hub is to keep a bunch of erroneous devices off of your wifi network and to ease congestion. Philips Hue is one of the most reliable and stable platforms out there for lights and has a massive third-party backing with apps that create a tremendous amount of potential routines, themes, and interactivity.

A single Seng LED color bulb has nowhere near the amount of "connectivity options".

The echo dot you have linked does not have any form of Zigbee hub. Only the Echo Plus, the newer 4th-gen spherical Dot, and some of the newer Echo shows have Zigbee hub capabilities. Otherwise, the devices used with Echo/Alexa (such as your Seng LED) just live on your local network.

The one I linked uses Bluetooth Mesh for connectivity, not wifi, and uses the Echo Dot as its controller. And even if you'd rather have Zigbee, you can still get two Seng color bulbs for less than the price of that one Hue bulb.

Are these the same lightstrips that work with the HDMI sync box for the back of a TV?

You've been on SD for 12 years and just now realized they automatically insert affiliate links into everything?
Uhh. No.

I've been on SD for 12 years and this is the first time my browser has flat out refused to open a link. From SD. Affiliate or no.

And it's not happening with every link now... Only some. Like this one.

That's how web trackers work. Slickdeals gets credit for the click on the link - potentially gets a commission on the sale
I assume that's to me. Yeah, I get that. But I've never had a problem with SD links before. And this is unlike other problems that other links can give me. It's not giving me a warning where I can allow it if I want to. It's straight up refusing to open them.

Clicking the link starts a pop up which immediately closes. I believe I have pop ups for SD allowed. Even copying the link and "Paste and Go"-ing doesn't work. I have to paste and then click the 'go/continue' arrow. That's the only way it will work. Just started happening. Has never happened before.

So naturally I thought some new or perhaps dodgy link was being used. (Also because it's not happening on every deal/link. Only some, like this one).
