Note! This is wired network, so plug in network cable near your router, most wifi routers have 4 ports and power on then run setup software on your computer.

Once you do this laptops, desktop phone etc can print if on the wifi of the same network. This is really the best way to setup most printer anyway if you can. This thing is large so can put it somewhere out of the way..

This thing has very low cost very high yield generic (print lots of pages). $30 for 2 for total of 24,000 pages BW printed! Can also get just high yield or standard.

Brother laser = no clogged inkjet when you stop printing over Christmas or summer break or not using for a year. Laser and honey badger don't care. Just don't ruin the printer and drum when installing the toner and no worries for decade.

Some reviews are bizarrely bad but brother HL always have be great. Open and install toner carefully and test during return period. I've had great results for decades with brother and their warranty is ok.

Never fear...spray with 409!

Not sure why but that kills faster than a laser, 40 cal, big boot etc.... Flying at your face when holding any spray was their fav attack in Brooklyn. Things as big as a light switch....wait i don't have a switch on that wall...ahhhh

Good write up. My Brother HL-2270DW printer sat unused for 3 years with toner installed. Didn't miss a beat. I can't let my inkjets set 3 weeks without issues.

Some of the more recent Brother printers require shenanigans to be able to use 3rd party toner replacements. Does this printer work with 3rd party cartridges natively?

Hundreds of positive reviews on Amazon for the generics...leads me to believe that these higher end printers don't have the chip issues that the newer small Brother printers seem to have.

I used LD for brother but years ago. I see mixed reviews now so who knows if user or error or decline I quality.

Generic toner places recently some say put less toner inside or use lower quality. The toner technology is not complex and has been around since the 70's. I used to fill toner myself.

I still use generic buy know I risk if it leaks inside the printer from a spring jamming I'll ruin the printer or at least I have drum. Decade later still never an issue for me or others
