You're referencing the T-Mobile deal? There is indeed a standard process by which the line level credits are migrated to account level credits so that you can continue to receive them on a monthly basis.

Tforce told that I need 40 days service for the device to be unlocked . Anyone know if the sim has to be inserted in the device and kept under T-Mobile service for continuous 40 dyas ? Should I try after 5 days with different rep to test my luck ?

They need to see the device active on their network, so yes, you should definitely pop in the sim or activate the eSIM

Maybe use another fb account and try again. The next rep might able to see the previous conversation and deny you again if you're using the same fb account

They do give the same credit. The Best Buy trade in value is $520 and T-Mobile adds an extra $200 (iPhone 12).

I fully paid mine... Went immediately to TMobile store and had my Esim activated with current #...
Next day called TForce requested unlock... Explained I Needed this so I could have my Esim # and use the physical sim for local phone service when I travel. So Esim had my regular daily use # and the empty sim slot to use when abroad. Next day phone was fully-unlocked

Remind them You bought and paid for dual sim phone.

The cheapest plan is $65 directly through Tmobile correct? And they run a credit check? Anyway to avoid running a credit check?

It makes complete sense, if the phone isn't registered on the T-Mobile rework, they can't unlock it. Sorry if that doesn't meet with your use case. If you want to gift the phone, gift it. It will lock to network of the first SIM that is inserted.

Exactly. Is this theoretical problem even a practical one if the giftee doesn't have any immediate plans to switch cell phone providers??

So if I buy one of these phones then put in a Tello SIM before turning it on it will be locked to Tello? And I can just cancel whatever T-Mobile plan I signed up with?

I'm running into this as well and I believe it's a hard pull. Someone in the 12 Mini thread said CostCo does a soft pull but I don't have CostCo so can't confirm
