Also this is probably one of the best overall watches you can get for this price. It's a tank.

I tend to prefer larger watch faces but I wasn't disappointed with these types of Seikos.
What the heck do you do to your watches?
I've had mine going on three years and it was my daily watch until I got a Lunar Pilot a few months ago. I still wear this watch quite a bit.

That's weird, I had no shipping charges on either of my orders. My watch bands arrive tomorrow!
A full stainless steel case and 200M of water resistance for under $50 is mental. There are no competitors. Expect to pay $200-$300 retail for any direct competitor.
It's quartz and not mechanical, unlike many those competitors, but I feel that quartz is more appropriate anyway for a watch that is intended to be rugged. (I have mechanical watches as well -- right tool for the job, I say)
The stock rubber bracelet (while decently comfortable) is uggo but you can pop a 22mm strap/bracelet of your choice onto there. Plenty of great straps well under $20.
Only real downside is size; 44MM will be cartoonishly big on many.

The MDV107s are sold elsewhere in the world and do not have have the marlin. Apparently due to a rights issue like you said.
Some wear analog watches like this for backup devices, or for very casual/shallow dives. However I'm not sure the Casio is a great choice for that.
If I was truly trusting my life to a watch I'd want something ISO 6425 certified. They're easy to spot because they will say "DIVER'S 200M" on the face. Can get them from Seiko, Citizen, etc. ISO 6425 certificiation means that each watch has been individually tested to be free of condensation under challenging conditions, and has been pressure-tested to greater than its advertised depth: so 250m for a watch advertised as "DIVER'S 200M".
In normal usage the Casio MDV106 is a very durable watch and is a real tank. But unlike "real" ISO divers they have not been put through individual torture testing.

As far as shock/vibration go, the quartz Duro is orders of magnitude more durable than a mechanical watch but orders of magnitude less durable than a digital watch. If you're working a jackhammer or firing machine guns all day digital is the way to go.
But I wear mine for hikes, yardwork, etc with no worries or damage.
