Same. I need a washer that is no deeper than 27" and must load from the top.
Sadly, with shortages, the only thing really available is a $500 Whirlpool for $700 and it is just an update of the SUCKY one I have and want to upgrade. Sigh.

I am looking for a dryer, as I purchased a new washer a few years ago. If I find a good set, I may bite if the price is really good and just give my washer away to someone with children who really needs it. I haven't found any going for BF yet.

As long as you leave the door open once the cycle completes so it can dry out then you'll be fine. Front load washers only smell if you don't know how to take care of them.

Had my front loader for going on 7 years now. There's no smell, and no, I don't leave the door open all the time.
