You should know that Plaid, Yoodle and companies like them scrape your personal bank account information using your username + password, and then they will use that for their own data mining purposes --- in addition to providing the data to the requesting company as part of their service.
- In this case they are obtaining all your bank transactions over 365 Days and your balance to make it available to Green Dot bank.
- they will maintain this access until you change your Funding Bank account password.
The only way to stop Plaid and Yoodle from harvesting your personal and financial information after you've used any "login to verify your bank" services is by changing your Bank password.
NOTE: Plaid/Yoodle etc can gain access to all your banking information, including mortgages, loans, credit cards etc. as they login to your account pretending to be you and scrape data that your bank may present to you on your bank home page. While in this case scope is limited to your transactions over 365 days and balances, other companies may try to extract as much information as possible about your finances, without you knowing.

Since they have no other funding source option (w/o turning over my entire finances to this no-name bank, or incurring a $25 wire deposit fee) it seems like I'll have to pass on the deal.

I had applied as a LLC.
I stopped and did not provide the documentation.
Eventually Kabbage cancelled my application.
This time I applied as a sole proprietor.
I used a completely different email address than my American Express credit card account.
And this time I was approved "instantly".
No demand about tax returns, etc.
I have funded it with $50, and I am waiting for the debit card.
The 1.1% interest is very nice.

edit-I've been waiting for almost 40 days for my debit card so it doesn't look like I'll be able to get my $300 since I have 5 days left every time I call I get the runaround they say they'll send a new card and I never get it. my account is open and I transferred money into it but have no way to use the debit card that it says I should have.

One downside for paper checks is you have to order their checks. No other options, and no customization. The checks are from Deluxe. When the check clears, your transaction history just says "Paper Check Adjustment" and the amount. It doesn't show you the check number, an image, or the recipient, so that's been a recent pain.
Another downside is that they use Green Dot Bank and that isn't accepted everywhere. If you're selling on ebay, ebay won't let you use your Kabbage account for deposits. But it's fine for Amazon, Walmart and Paypal so far.
The $300 offer wasn't available at the time I signed up, so if you can get that it's a nice bonus. Hopefully AmEx will force them to keep improving. But so far so good.

That paper check "feature" is a problem. They need to rectify that.
