Just chiming in as a huge Metroidvania [nintygamer.com] fan to say that The Mummy Demastered is a really good take on older Super Metroid-like games. It also has a unique aspect to it where you fight your zombie after you die, with all the same upgrades you had when you died. The licensed property for the game is trash, but the game itself is great.

Is it a coincidence that one of the forms in Monster Boy looks like Lion-O from Thundercats? I haven't played the game, but was watching the little video on Nintendo's site and it stood out right away.

One of the best games I played last year, and I play a lot of games! I really enjoyed it. Fun to play, super crisp graphics, great music, big metroidvania with a lot of areas to explore. Because it's not a well known franchise/character it went under the radar, but it's a really solid game, especially for 10 bucks.

Most of these are really great, but I'd personally recommend Carrion; you get to play the monster that tears through and ravages an entire structure looking for escape, while fighting and consuming enemies bold enough to get in your way. Not a deep thinking game or strong puzzler, but lots of chaotic, gory fun all around.

I don't like metroidvania games at all since i get lost very easily but Monster Boy was fun and looks beautiful that I got lost many times but had to finish it. Totally recommend it.

Agreed. That game is a masterpiece. I imported a physical copy from Japan a while back because the English version was too expensive on eBay, and the Japanese version had all of the patches already.

Interesting, I am on the other side of the spectrum. I generally love Metroidvanias but really didn't care for Monster Boy (to the point where I quite a good way through as I just wasn't enjoying it). The art is amazing and this price is more than reasonable, but I just didn't enjoy the loop or the story and wouldn't recommend it.
