SAME. these knives are garbage and the paint will definitely chip off into your food. i owned them and also gave them as a gift. we each had the same issue with our sets.

These are good until you get a good set of a henckels or wustoff and then you can't go back.. but yea we used ours for a while still use them for rough uses

These are definitely not crap and probably worth 40 or 50 dollars, a steal at ten. I have boring pro knives in our kitchen and my wife wanted something more colorful. I find myself grabbing these sometimes because they aren't bad at all, pretty decent compared to my other knives.
