From a cleaning perspective, I wash all the washable parts in the dishwasher every 2 weeks and clean/vacuum the inside of the machine (coffee grounds scattered inside).
Once a month, I take the brew unit apart and clean all the pieces manually and check/regrease the o-rings which takes about 30 minutes to do.
The o-rings do need to be replaced periodically - I replace mine when they start to feel hard or too much coffee grit gets stuck on them and won't come off with washing (about every 6 months).
I only make lattes (I froth the milk using a handheld wand - the milk jug is too much hassle) and the espresso shot quality is way better than Starbucks in my opinion.
The quality at Starbucks depends on the barista behind the counter and I've had too many bad drinks to the point that I refuse to go to Starbucks anymore and seek out small coffee shops when I'm travelling where the quality is much much better.
Anyway, hope this helps .
Forgot to add - the built-in grinder on my machine is very picky about the coffee beans.
If the beans are oily, then the grinder is completely lost as to what it should do it seems - most of the times it will only grind for a couple seconds and all you get is a watery mess, other times, it grinds too much and nothing comes out of the spout.
I've found that Medium to Medium-dark beans work the best (Starbucks coffee beans don't work for me at all) - Don Pablo (available at Costco) works great and consistently each time. Definitely no dark roasts (French or Italian).
The milk frother is separate but on unit and works well. After you make the coffee, you wait a few minutes for the heater block to come to temp and then you froth yourself with the wand and a pitcher (which takes a bit of time to learn and low fat milk works better). All in all, it's a really good machine. I hope this helps those on the fence.

We did upgrade to the Jura Ena 8 which is a step up for more options, etc.
