Lowes is clearancing #571457 BRK heat detectors [assumedly] to make way for the more expensive retail-oriented First Alert-branded detectors. If you see $42 online, try a different store YMMV.
Unlike a smoke detector, heat detectors are installed in places where Smoke doesn't necessarily mean Fire (e.g. garage, kitchen, utility room, etc.). This unit is hardwired and has a normal 9V battery backup. Unlike the 10-year battery types, this will not self destruct on year No. 10. Review your local building code to determine suitability for your application.
This unit is full-priced online and I don't know if Brickseek inventory has been resolved yet...? Sorry.

You can make any AC-wired smoke, combination, and, or heat detectors smart by installing a relay at the last connected unit and wiring it back to your alarm panel in a normally open (NO) circuit. My hardwired alarm is connected to an Envisalink that sends me messages if any fire alarm circuit activates. Alternately, if you believe in WiFi for life safety devices, you can wire the RM4 relay (in a junction box, of course) to a wifi door sensor which can be renamed to
Fire Alarm and notify you that way as well.
