Has been this price a few times, I think it's their regular sale price for the past 2-3 months, if you have a backlog, don't rush to buy

If? Unless you are brand new to gaming, you have a backlog 🤣 And if you are new to gaming, I have a long list of games you need to play so you have a backlog, too. I think backlogs are a rite of passage within gaming.

Covid has given a lot of people reason to get through their backlog, especially those not looking for a job either.

I think that depends on what all you have access to at home. I don't think I'll ever fully play all of the games on my modded NES, SNES, and Sega and I didn't add everything I wanted nor whole catalogs. As a Nintendo/PC person, my PC catalog is over 600 games and I imagine at least 400 of those games were cheap bundle filler or free giveaways. I imagine most were bought for under $20 and even under $10 because I usually wait until $5-10, depending on the title specifically because of my backlog. I know some drop bank every Fall Steam sale and probably make my catalog look tiny. This said, if I ONLY had a Switch, I think I have more or less "beaten" most games with endings. I would probably have a lot more games though so perhaps that would be different.

Anyway, 6.7 on metacritic and some fun comments if you have friends that you can play this with.

"Overall, this collection can't be beat. 3 amazing games with over 20 hours of content, and a lot of laughs and good times you can have with friends either together or online. Trine 1, 2, & 4 are all a lot of fun to play and only get better with each one"

Can I have your list? Before winning a switch a couple weeks ago, my last console was a super Nintendo.

For Switch?
Breath of the Wild
Mario Odyssey
Luigi's Mansion 3
Golf Story (download only)
Animal Crossing New Horizon
Captain Toads Treasure Tracker
Smash Bros Ultimate
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Pikmin 3
Splatoon 2
Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze
Mario+Rabbids Kingdom Battle
Super Mario 3D All Stars (if you can still find it)
Super Mario 3D World + Bowsers Fury
Links Awakening
Yoshis Crafted World (I enjoy it as a relaxing game)

Games that are not Nintendo exclusives, but seem or are excellent with the versatility of the Switch:
Overcooked 1+2 (or get All You Can Eat)
Hades (haven't played yet, but hear it is fantastic)
XCom 2
Boomerang Fu
Rocket League

That's probably a good start 🤣 All of these I have played and own in some form except for Hades. Some I own on Wii U or PC. I have other games as well, but might draw some eyebrows. I'm not a fan of Pokemon, but there are a few of those now, too, if it is your thing.

I'm assuming I won't be able to buy this as a gift because I'll have to have a Switch associated with an account?

Yoku's Island Express is fantastic platformer game on the Switch. I am mostly a traditional console player (i.e. on the TV), however, this game really shines in hand-held mode as you partly move about with pinball-like actions.

Since you only have a Switch as your latest-gen console, any good port of a cross platform title will be worth getting. Hollowknight and Spiritfarer are wonderful games, though I don't know what your interests are. The Switch is pretty light on first person shooter type games, but Wolfenstein and Borderlands run very well on it if that's your bag.

It's also a pretty underpowered system, so many big world cross platform games run awful on it, and I wouldn't recommend them (Witcher III, Subnautica, The Outer Worlds, etc.). Just check reviews before you buy, I guess.

depends a lot on what you like-- do you want to play with other people? do you have a favorite genre? do you already have pc games?

This is a good site to surf deals--
https://www.dekudeals.com/

But also, if you're really out of date, there's plenty of games 5-20 years old that are absolutely wonderful that frequently drop on the switch for a couple bucks.

Yes unfortunately that is correct. You could also gift the amount to the person and say to buy this. They really need to add a gift ping feature.
