You did it wrong. Wait 4 months until your current Ultimate sub expires, and then Google for the correct way of doing the conversion. Hint: I answered it in the sentence before this one.

I had gamepass and forgot to cancel the subscription. Was charged full price. Microsoft refunded me the second day when I sent in a support ticket. Very responsive.

Yeah, because this is how most everything with a subscription service works these days? They are trying to get new subscribers to try/get hooked to the service/forget about the subscription so they just eventually keep getting charged monthly. If you have subbed before and have let your subscription lapse, getting 3 months for a buck is far less likely to have any effect on you keeping it after the three months because you already know what you are getting.

It must be a pretty long stint of time before it sees you as a new customer again. Spare account ended way back on 5/28/21 and still shows $14.99.
