Gonna weigh in on the "free" issue. The cup isn't really free. If you get a $5 gift card for spending $5 on a flashlight, you didn't get the flashlight for free. You basically spent $5 to get $10 of value.
Did I get the cup for free? No. I got a cup of Starbucks + a cup from Starbucks for $5. I like it though, so I'm happy. I don't drink Starbucks, so the cup actually cost $5 for me.
The barista was like: And you said you wanted a Venti? I was like: Uhh... Whatever's smallest. She's like: Oh, that's a Tall.
They used one of their paper cups, then gave me the plastic cup separately. Whoever said they pour the drink directly into the plastic cup was probably on another planet.
