I've been happy with this one. Returned the TSR-700 and went with this. Much better experience so far.
FYI, I recently got this about a month ago. Mine occasionally drops connection to speakers. Occurs about once a week. Tried different speaker wires and HDMI. Still occurs. Prob just my sample, but just putting it out there. Been waiting for it to come back in stock for an exchange.

Supposed to but mine can't to a lg c1 from Nvidia 3090. Played with it for 3 hours, force labeling the receiver as a PC, til I gave up and went hdmi straight to the TV. Worked instantly. Audio comes back to receiver via CEC. Very annoying.
I have no problem with my LG CX from GTX 3070 doing 4k/120 via S760H.
maybe try windows 11 to see if it works that way?

that said, the TX NR 6050 maybe a better device. i find my S760 lack in power (as in, i actually maxed out volume). it spec at 75W with stereo, but i feel with 5 channel, it may have less than 50W per channel.

If I was shopping for a mid level receiver today, this is the one I'd buy. Good mix of features, price, performance.

Count me among those that would never consider Onkyo given their reliability track record.
Get with the times. Nothing wrong with Onkyo. They have been solid ever since the hdmi issues if many years ago. Not only that, but they warrantied and fixed the affected units and extended the warranty on top of that. In the audio world, no one has a perfect track record. Denon, Marantz, and Yamaha have all had problems of late, and it will not be the last. Nothing wrong with hating on a manufacturer, but hate them because they treated you like crap and told you to get lost. Don't hate when they took responsibility for a failed device and fixed/replaced it under warranty. Denon's recent actions with their receivers show they wouldn't have done that.

My Costco has this at $439 for a few months now, I thought that was the regular price?

Not happy with the movie sound quality of my current Denon S920W and I already tried the S750H. Gonna wait a few more months to see if Costco starts carrying a Yamaha but will snag the Onkyo if they don't.

Hi audiophiles,
I have a simple old school 5.1 setup for 4K TV-movies-video games but would like to access new apps and music on a newer better-sounding receiver. (That i don't have to turn the volume up and down constantly between loud music and soft dialogue scenes.)

Would this be a good fit for me? Or overkill maybe? Thanks!

Hi all. I am reading through this thread and I am completely lost. What do you all use this for? I assume home theater based on what I've read. Looks like Technology has passed me by.
If anyone could help me out I would be grateful. I am simply looking for a home stereo in which I can connect my iPhone wirelessly, maybe a turntable, and crank some tunes. I don't need a home theater setup as my tv speakers are fine (I watch about 2hrs tv total per week and mostly sports). I just want to play my music loud and Bluetooth speakers just don't get there.
I don't mean to hijack this thread but it seems a good place to get real answers. The Slickdeals community is the best.
Basically is this unit good for what I need or is it overkill?

You need any receiver, including an old one, and a BT receiver (just bought one for $12.50 off SD to do something similar in a different room). You will connect the phone and BT to the receiver as inputs and you should be G2G.

This is the opposite of what you want. It has a bunch of modern codecs but is massively underpowered and will sound flat. Get a good old receiver, the $12 dongle and it will outperform this massively.

CEC issues... happens on many (most?) receivers - CEC stinks - just turn it off.

Wi Fi works great with this model.

Of course, the one item I need to find a deal on and I don't have a Costco membership.
Find a friend to get you a Costco gift card. Then use it to pay for part of the purchase.
