I want it but I'm afraid of carbon monoxide poisoning.
Turn it on low and have plenty of ventilation. Or watch some reviews on YouTube and find people with carbon monoxide testers with it so you can see what it will do
.
There are a lot of different models that use the small propane bottles. By the time you buy the regulator at another $50 to use a larger propane supply, a buddy bought this one[amazon.com] instead on sale (now $85.86) that mounts on a tank. It definitely puts out the heat (29,000-45,000 Btu).

In case of malfunction, that is a valid concern. Most all of the propane heaters today have an O2 depletion sensor, as well as a tilt sensor in case it gets knocked over, but still, you should have a carbon monoxide alarm and of a course, a smoke alarm that can be had in the same unit.
Even a regular house furnace can get a crack or leak in the bonnet that emits carbon monoxide, so yes, get a sensor alarm or two. Sometimes, the local fire department will have a deal, if not free. Just check around.
