FWIW I got a short-lived deal mirroring this about 6 months ago, and this router is incredibly solid.

The network management features are pretty standard for enthusiast routers although light by business standards with channel management, and the ability to set the third radio as a separate SSID if you aren't using the wireless backhaul (multiple mesh).

The touchscreen interface, speakers, and visual are a very specific style but if you like it, you love it.

And the stability is significant. I have a heavily active smarthome and upgraded from Nest Wifi to this and my issues just disappeared.

TDLR; This is a gorgeous Wifi Router that can grow to a mesh setup with fun metrics and touchscreen interface, and is the top of the pile until Wifi 6E becomes realistic. Hope this helps someone!
No. Amplifi is the "consumer" division of Ubiquiti

Thanks op! If I did not want to buy two of these, can you recommend a less expensive unit to use to create a mesh? Thx!!

I bought 4 of these when they first came out. The UI is amazing, you never have to reboot them and they are super fast.

Pros:
Great processor
VPN
App setup

Cons:
No 2.5 Gbit Lan/wan ports.
Standard 3,000 sqft. coverage. (Costly mesh add-on for 6,000 sqft)
WiFi 6 not 6E.
Clients limited to 120 for non mesh setup

Can you get two of these for a mesh setup?

I've been using this for over a year and it's been great. The app control as well as the UI on the device is beautiful. Regular firmware updates with new features. Originally I was going to get 2 to do mesh but the device is so powerful it gave me a strong signal throughout the 3 story home so I left it in the middle of the first floor. The only thing missing is WiFi 6E but this is plenty fast for me. I'm a big IOT and have over 100+ devices on the network. It has performed flawlessly so far.

Can I buy two at 279 and bridge them?
Quote from DadLovesBluey :
Good deal. Now I have to decide this or an ASUS RT-AX86U (AX5700)? Both at the $279 price point. Moving from a mesh of two RT-AC68U units covering 3000sq ft with 60-ish devices connected.
Quote from Raeynn :
Yes. These mesh with each other as well as another "access point" model.
Quote from jdag :
You are better off getting 2 routers as opposed to the router + mesh point package. Not only is it less today because of the sale, but there are advantages to the 2 router option.

1st, you'd have to routers as opposed to the "dumb" mesh point. You could always separate the routers in the future and have 2 systems.

2nd, the routers have the touch display (not really a big deal if you set the 2nd router as an access point).

3rd, the mesh point does not have the 4 ethernet ports on the back.

This one is way way better ...I tried Evey mesh Costco sells and always had issues after some time. This one I have seen using for 6 months with no issues whatsoever

There is a meshpoint version of this router but buying 2 or 3 at this price is way cheaper...

Had an edge router with some unifi aps but couldn't get zoom to work properly. Had to move back to my orbis. Anyone have experience with zoom on this.

I was thinking of getting one of these, but I've got Wifi 6 already and am waiting for 6e to roll out before I upgrade to something else, I think.

All I know is I'm looking for something more solid next time around that'll handle heavier loads. I've got an Asus RT-AX92U mesh with two routers right now, but it's quite regularly flaky because I've got a buttload of smart home devices and am a heavy internet user.

That said, I can wait for the new tech to drop.

I have a 3500 sq ft house and my 3 nest wifi and 1 Google wifi has been really finicky the past 6 months just randomly dropping in speed every 12-48hr and requiring a restart to maybe fix the problem. I would love to replace it with this router.

Do yall think 1 router placed directly in the center of my 1.5 story house cover the whole house?

Is it worth waiting for something with a Wifi 6e? Will be replacing an older ASUS RT-AC68W

Older model that's been well-reviewed. Asus RT-AC68R, supporting a mix of Ethernet and N wifi devices. I dont own anything that needs Wifi6, so it has sufficed.
My free TMobile now ASUS RT-AC68U has been rock solid; both myself and my parents have them - never have to reboot them.
I passed on last years UDM Pro BF sale hoping for some kind of performance upgrade to the UDM line in the near future, but nothing yet!
